New Supernanny thread for those who are watching it

Oh my gosh it is 5 minutes in and I am ready to "whup" Jo! This mom carries her baby and nurses her all day - good for her! Jo is making her feel as if it is a horrible thing to be doing and I just know by the end of the show they will have forced that poor little baby to wean. This is really hitting close to home because my little girl is almost 14 months and is in my arms or at my breast the majority of the day. That's the way it should be!

I have set my dvr to record and will be back to vent later....

Ditto. My little man is 14.5 m/o and currently nursing and sleeping on my lap... And I'm LOVING it!!!

WTH is wrong with cosleeping

poor kids are gonna have their attachment broken so quick and painfully
post #6 of 228
cosleeping comments that are stupid.

"Alicia is 14 months old and she should be in her own bed." "I don't even know how you managed to make Alicia"

"you've got her attached to you like koala, you're not allowing her to get a sense of ..... she's become your pacifier. she doesn't need to be on your breast 24/7. if you choose to continue thats your prerogative. ......"

omg .....talk of dependency and how nursing is holding her back from meeting milestones..... I can't even quote it all. its too much.. I can't type fast enough to write all the bull

Why were they on the show, though? Were they asking for help with weaning or making their child less attached or were there other issues? Not that I'm defending Jo, just wondering what the family was doing on there in the first place.

Frankly, I don't care why they were on the show. If they wanted weaning advice, she could have given it. Instead she's saying things that are very untrue and HORRIBLE.

Thier older kids appear to be out of control but we all know how 'they' can edit stuff to make anything seem how they want. They do spank and seem to want/need help w/dicipline.

From what I am seeing it seems like they don't have a lot of control with the other kids, considering the spanking issues alone. I am guessing they want help on how to better "manage" their kids...

Admittedly I am more bothered by the hitting then anything Jo has said or done at this point, of course that could change by the end of the show. Just that it feels wrong to be nursing and co-sleeping but hitting your kids.

The mom might have the attachment things right but her idea of discipline is rediculous. Running around smacking her kids, she's worse than they are! I'm relieved she didn't tell her to wean completely, and seems to be focusing more on the spanking issues than the previews made it seem.

Whats wrong with being a koala, they always look pretty happy to me

Ugh...so breastfeeding a 14 month old will impede the reaching of developmental milestones? Sorry, Jo, but that's a load of bunk.

And I'm offended by the comment about not knowing how they even made Alicia. WTH? Why does she care where or how they make their kids?

I missed a bunch now because I was nursing (gasp!) my 14 month old (horrors!) back to bed on the mattress in her room that we share for part of the night (bad Mommy!). I just came back at the bedtime scene with Leila - what did I miss?

On the bedtime scene I agree 100% with how they handled it. They were not mean to the little girl at all and I personally do think 6 is more than old enough to be in their own bed. So that one I am on board with. But it looks like after the commercial break they are going to talk about weaning Alyssa. :sob

i can only hope that Mama follows her gut in the long run even if Jo convinces her on the show to wean
