Is this my period already?

At 54 days postpartum, I suddenly started bleeding. It was fairly heavy (but not enought to cause alarm) for about a day and a half, then tapered off and was lighter for another 2 days. The length of the bleeding was about the same as my usual periods, but the blood seemed different- less clumpy than a period, I think (although I usually use tampons and this time I used pads because it was so soon pp, so maybe I'm wrong about the usual appearance of the blood.)

I am exclusively breastfeeding. Could this really be my period already?? My mother got pregnant with my while exclusively breastfeeding my brother, so I am very wary about fertility when I am not ready for it.

It's probably just a hormonal fluctuation. The same thing happened to me at 6 weeks post partum and I was positive that my period had come back already. Bleeding, cramps... but then, once that was over, I didn't have a period until 11 mos post partum.
