Cutting the inside fleece to make a pocket - Would it work?

I don't know if anyone know what they are, but when I first got started CDing I bought 5 Little Lambs AIO's (not really) off ebay. I totally don't get this dipe. It is PUL outer with nice mm fleece inner, but then you snap the soaker in on top of that. You don't even get the benefit of the fleece, what's the point? So as you can tell I don't really like them.
But, I do like pockets. They have the 2 snaps to snap the soaker in in the back through both layers, but if I cut a slit in the fleece below that, could I use them as pockets? Would it comprimise the structure/strength of the dipe?
Just curious.

I had some given to me and frankly, they're weird. They're supposed to be one size, too, which I don't get. Anyway, I think you maybe could do that. I mean, fleece doesn't fray. I don't know if you could get all of the soaker part under the microfleece, though...

You may as well try, though. I mean, if there's a cut in the fleece underneathe the soaker that doesn't fray, it won't affect the function if you use it normal anyway.

I know seriously, that's what I was thinking, just give it a shot. I figure it actually works out good I can't get the soaker in all the way in the back because I can cover the snaps with it so it doesn't hurt DS, and he's dryer back there so shouldn't need the fleece.
Here I go, snip snip, this could actually be gratifying!

Yup, you could do that. My Starbunz pocket opening is just a slit cut in the inner fleece. With yours I'd even consider making a long thin rectangle to take the snaps out. You'd have an opening where the soaker could touch baby, but there wouldn't be any snaps.

Well I did it. The only problem I forsee is if stuff got caught between the layers during washing since the slit isn't at the the very front or back of the dipe it can't drain as well.
If I cut a rectangle I'd end up cutting the PUL too since the snaps go through both layers

I think if you wanted to, you could cut AROUND the snaps, so they would still be conected to the inner and the PUL, then you could just stuff the stuffer up into the back too, so there would only be a small strip of stuffer touching baby. Make sense?
