Indie film 'Schooled' World Premier in LA April 3

I was thinking that there might be some folks here who would be interested in this treatment of autonomy respecting relationships amongst adults and children.

The independent film 'Schooled' (what happened to the person you were going to be?) will be premiering at The Method Fest in Los Angeles on April 3. For more info and a trailer:

The writer and director of this film, Brooks Elms, is our old friend from the TCS list and the Autonomy Respecting Relationships list. He sites TCS as an influence in his work. I've been privileged to watch this story grow over the years and thrilled to see the project come to fruition

I'm not going to make it to LA for this (I don't think... hmm, but maybe...), but I'm assured that there will be more viewings and festivals, and possibly one in my state-- and maybe one in yours too, and eventually it is likely to show on the Independent Film Network and it will come out on video too.

Way to go Brooks! Thanks for showing how autonomy respecting relationships can be!

And if any of you folks here do attend, I'd love to hear about it!

thanks, and enjoy

thanks for posting about this. I checked out the website, it looks like a movie dh and I would really enjoy (and we rarely watch anything these days). I'll be interested in renting it when it comes to video.

Great! Maybe by the time it comes out in video, you will have a bit more time to actually watch it! I didn't watch anything for years when the kids were small... amazing how quickly that changes as they grow but it's all good.

Not living anywhere near a democratic school, I was interested to see how it works as portrayed in this film. The difference between kids who are helped to think and experiment based on their own autonomous ideas and your standard garden variety child in compulsory schooling is glaring - the quality of relationships, genuine and honest communication, self-respect and respect of others... I love to see more of the portrayal of autonomy respecting relationships get out to the public. Ways to change those memes!

best wishes,
larsy
