Can someone PLEASE help me find this movie?

My parents and I have been looking for this movie for ages, and it is nowhere to be found. It's a horror movie made in the early 80's called "Don't Go To Sleep." I've looked on Netflix, amazon, eBay, seems like *everywhere*, and I can't find it. It was one of our favorites way back then, and I would love to see it again. I remember some bits and pieces of the storyline -- a little girl gets killed in a car accident and then haunts her family and eventually possesses her little blonde-haired sister. I specifically remember the little sister walking up the stairs with a pizza cutter in her hand, dragging it along the wall and cutting the wall as she went. Anyone know where I can find it? I would love you forever!

I know! I wish to God someone would sell an old VHS tape of "Don't Go To Sleep" on eBay! I feel like I've been stalking that movie for decades!

OMG - this is the hardest movie in the world to find! I did a bunch of searches and couldn't find it in stock anywhere. It appears it was a made-for-tv movie, so that's one reason its so hard to find. I found a message board where someone else was looking for it and someone said to look at moviesunlimited.com. I went there, but they don't have it now either. Sorry I couldn't help!

Good luck finding it!

I have another endless quest -- Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. The SCARIEST TV movie ever made!

I've never heard of Don't Go to Sleep, but it does sound good. Could it maybe have an alternate title?

I always wondered what the name of the movie was!! So funny, I remember the bit about the pizza cutter too!! Mystery solved!

Thanks so much for looking, ladies! I found it on Imdb, and it was made in 1982. The only title listed is "Don't Go To Sleep." It makes sense that it would be hard to find if it's a made-for-TV movie. It must have been an HBO movie or something?

Is this it?

HA! I loved that movie. Seems like Valerie Harper was in it, & one of the characters was named Jenny. (My name, & CREEEEEPY to hear it in that movie.) I remember the girl died because her sister tied her shoelaces together. She wanted revenge for that I suppose.

Here it is on Internet Movie DataBase:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083844/

I just read that you can get a copy at creepyclassics.com
so you might wanna check that out.

Melanie, that's the one! I had nightmares for WEEKS after I saw that as a child, so of course I'm dying to see it again.

I'm too cheap to pay $55 for a used VHS, though.

I just saw that one of the search terms on Imdb that brings up this movie is "pizza cutter." That must have been a very memorable scene, not just for me!

I looked on Creepy Classic, but there are none available.

The IMDB summary sounds great -- now I want to see it too.

It MUST be out there somewhere ...

Oh my gosh, I just registered on Imdb so I could read everyone's comments on the movie, and the writer of Don't Go To Sleep is planning to rerelease a new version of it. I am so excited!

I'm about to start a new thread about everyone's favorite 70's and 80's horror films, because I used to be such a hard-core horror fan as a kid and want to revisit some of my favorites that I can't remember.

It was a USA Network movie. Maybe you could contact USA network and ask them for a copy or where to get one... that's where I'd start.
