Tell me your favorite 80's (or 70's even) horror films!

The lady In White- A little boy gets locked in the school cloakroom on Halloween and witnesses a little girl's ghost getting rekilled. Scared the crap out of me.

Black Christmas- I personally haven't seen it but my dad saw it when he was 16 and said he went home and slept with the lights on.

When A Stranger Calls- The old version is much better than the remake. A girl is babysitting and gets prank phone calls. The children are kidnapped and years later in college the kids's pajamas end up in her closet. Again must see original.

There is another movie I sort of remember but its bits and pieces. It basically had a little joker looking guy that was mean running aorund the house and something with him and the cat. I warned you I didn't remember much but I was scared.

Oh, a topic dear to my heart! From the '80s -- has to be Nightmare on Elm Street and The Stepfather. Also, I saw a movie in the theater that I couldn't track down for YEARS, and I started thinking I had dreamed it or something. But no, it's real -- Spellbinder, starring Kelly Preston and some other people. A guy rescues a girl from a satanic cult, and then they come after her ... or do they?

Starr, could your remembered movie be Magic, with Anthony Hopkins and a ventriloquist dummy? I never saw it, but it terrorized most of my eighth-grade class. I was even afraid of the poster.

Hmmm, let me go check. I don't think it was a vantriliquist more of a little joker dude with a bell on his joker hat. Let me see....

Nope wasn't that movie. Also Cujo was a good movie but not on the same level of horror as the other ones.

I don't care for horror movies, but my Dd likes a few of them. Mostly newer ones though. She does like the Halloween and Friday the 13th movies, although she admits they got progressively more stupid.

I generally don't care for horror movies, but there's a few real old ones that I love love love. Sorry, I think Rosemary's Baby is pre 70's.

Stephen King's Cat's Eye? Drew Barrymore plays a girl who is terrorized by a troll hiding in the walls and the cat is trying to save her, but the parent's think it's the cat that is causing the problems.

Changling - the scene with the ball falling down the stairs still creeps me out.

Don't be afraid of the dark - It petrified me a a kid; gave me nightmares for years. I saw it as an adult with DH and was embarassed because it is not really all that scary. I guess I had an over active imagaination as a kid.

AN American Werewolf In London scared the crap out of me!

April Fool's Day. Classic 80s stuff, scary as hell, and fun music. Only Blair Witch usurped this as my favorite.

Rani, have you read the book Dead Ringers is based on? Even more twisted. *shiver* I think it's call Twins.

OMG, I totally shouldn't have seen this, I think I was like 11 or 12. Thanks to my teenage aunt... scared me big time!

I love the first Friday the 13th movies and Nightmare on Elm St. Phantasm, Silent Night, Deadly Night... The Shining! I think I saw most of those before I was 13 (1989)!!!:

When was "sleepaway camp" That scene at the end still haunts me. April Fools day was classic.

Pet Cemetary

And yes I think that was Stephen Kings Cat's Eye. It sounds exactly like what I remember.

Nope, haven't read the book for Dead Ringers. Saw it in college - one of my guy friends was horrified at the GYN tools. I promised him that if I saw those in my obgyn's office I would run fast

The Shining is also a great one! "Red Rum" "Red Rum" "Red Rum"
