healthy breastmilk alternative

Hi all. New member here. Dad needs to give a bottle every 3 weeks or so while I am out. Have been expressing, but I am so over pumping at this stage, plus the production is going down (babe is 7.5 months). My frozen supply will last until she is about 11 months. Can I give goats milk for that occasional feed after that? What is the "best", (ie most natural) formula to use?

Mine just turned 8 months and I'm still pumping 4-5x a day. My supply is dwindling as well, but I'm just supplementing with a little bit of solid foods. I'd say that at LEAST for the first year you should aim for only bm. I'm not sure that there's any "safe" alternative.

By 11 months, an occasional bottle of cow or goat's milk should be fine (if we're talking about 1 or 2 bottles every 3 weeks... not more frequently!), as long as she tolerates it well and eats solids, too.

I have always had to give my baby 1 bottle of something while at work, b/c I could never pump enough at work (even when young)> I did organic formula until he was 8 months old (1 bottle on work days)...and then switched to whole goat's milk. He has digested it fine and the pediatrician gave me a thumbs up. I switched for 2 reasons 1) it was less processed than formula and 2) my baby started throwing it down (my MIL/Mom said). I guess his palate was getting a taste of all the good food in the world!

At 11 months your babe will probably just eat food when you are gone from her. If she doesn't, I would go w/raw grass-fed goat milk. We have a great farm that we get our milk from and I would feel very comfortable giving it to a toddler.
