Do you have any homemade mask, massage oil recipes, etc to share? I thought a mid-winter treat would be nice for us mothers---without the expense of a spa. I'll be back to post some soon.

Something I do to relax is add a few drops of lavendar oil to a warm bath. Every night before going to bed I light a sented candle in the bedroom. When I have a slight headache I massage a bit of lavendar oil into my temples with fingertips. I forgot what aromatherapy oils I mixed together to make a massage oil (so I can't post that here now).
I have some recipes to share---set aside some time to pamper yourself:
Moisturizing Mask
1/2 banana
1 T. honey
2 T. sour cream
Mash banana & add other ingredients. Apply to face & let set for 10 minutes. Gently wipe off w/a damp cloth.
Happy Feet
1/2 gallon whole milk
warm water
almond extract
kosher salt (coarse texture)
scented oil
Heat milk w/a little warm water. Add a drop of almond extract. While mixture is heating, mix kosher salt w/some oil to form a rough paste. When milk is a comfortable temperature, pour it into a large basin or tub & soak feet. After 10 minutes, scrub your feet w/salt mixture & then rinse off w/milk mixture.
Exfoliating Mask
Egg whites & Oatmeal
Mix ingredients into a thick paste. Spread on skin & leave for 5 minutes. Rinse w/tepid water. The oatmeal will exfoliate dead skin, while the egg whites soften & smooth dry skin.
Cuticle Care
1 tsp. olive oil
1 tsp. vitamin E oil
Combine 2 ingredients & massage into fingernails & cuticles. Gently push back cuticles w/a cotton-covered wooden cuticle stick.
So how do you pamper yourself?

I recently started making some of my own bath products. I make homemade soap which makes me feel very pampered indeed.
Other things that are really nice and easy to make are lotion bars and lip balms. You can make your own lotion bar using one part beeswax, one part cocoa butter and one part oil (like olive, grapeseed or sweet almond). I melt it down and pour it into a mini muffin pan. After it cools it pops right out and you use it dry skin. Lip balm is just as easy to make and there are lots of recipes online.
