OMG, I don't remember ever having back pain like this. I got very little sleep last night because of it.

I've had diarrhea all day yesterday. BH cntx were stronger but nothing severe or regular. DH came home at about midnight and we DtD. I was hoping something would happen and all that is happening is tremendous back pain.

I wonder if you are having back labor? It would be worth giving your dr or mw a call if you are in that much pain. Not to scare you, but, a friend of mine had back labor for 3 days before giving birth. Her baby did finally turn for the delivery. Try soaking in a warm bath. Look up back labor online..... hope you feel better soon.

I wondered that too because the baby is laying on my right side. (That might make no sense, but my old MW told me that the baby laying on the right side is a sign of a posterior baby) I've been spending a LOT of time on my hands and knees trying to get it to ease up. Also funny is prior to this the baby was laying on the left side. ARGH. LOL

This is a hopeful UC so no doc or MW to call, just trusting my body. I've never had back pain like this before though.

Now a question about birthing a posterior baby...is it possible to have all the pain in your back and not really feel strong contractions around your belly? I'm supposed to go to a bday party 2 hrs away tonight and if this could be early labor I'd prefer not go. Otherwise, I'd get through the pain and go.

Here's something I found quickly, maybe doing a search on kellymom would offer more advice. Good luck! I would stay away from the party, you never know how quickly your baby can turn and then labor start. Sending you comforting vibes!

I UC'ed in October with my 5th babe.My labor started in my back and pretty much never shifted to the front until the last 30 minutes. My back hurt from around 2am Thursday morning with sporadic contractions that were felt only in my back, they lasted from around 20min down to every 7min depending on my position. At around 6pm that day the contrax picked up but were still irregular from every 10 to 7 minutes. At around 10pm i was saying that i would be totally fine if my back didn't feel like it was breaking in two.I took a lot of Rescue Remedy and homeopathic pulsatilla(for posterior babes) coupled with arnica. At 1am i finally felt a shift and had my first front contrax. My babe was born 45 minutes later.

My little one is on the right, too. Which makes for uncomfy nights when his/her little feet decide to jut through my left side, which I lay on, and into the bed

As far as the back pain, other than sciatica, I DID actually have a tight cramping in my back today, same as you. It happened twice, both times right after I sat down. But no other signs of labor. Keep us updated on how you're feeling... I'm in a very similar situation.
