Stalled Labor?

Things have been going just fine for the last week or so. I've had contractions on and off, but nothing painful or serious.

Last night, before going out for ice cream and coffee, I started having some contractions. They weren't particularly noticeable, but I told DH they were happening. After having some caffeine (oops!), I was very much ready to walk--and vacuum--and clean...

After having sex, I started having more contractions and was keeping DH up, so I went into the living room to drink some RRL tea and bounce on the mini trampoline. Got sleepy so I went to bed. By this time, I was feeling something, so I started timing the contractions. (It was 4:05am by this time). I had them at 4:05, 4:10, and so on until around 5am when I stopped timing them (5 minutes apart)

DH suggested I call our midwife since the contractions had been so regular. She suggested I try to sleep and call her when the contractions were longer--closer to a minute.

Woke up around 7am with irregular contractions (but still coming), so I took the dog for a long walk. It's now nearly 3:30pm and though I have been feeling things off and on=-- I feel like I'm back to square one.

Was I in labor? Am I just stalling? My mw says not to worry about it at all---that I might just be putsy putsy today and have the baby tomorrow. It just feels like I had all that and now... nothing!! (or close to it)

Any ideas or suggestions?

I've been drinking rrl tea, having sex, spicy foods, etc..

It's not nothing. Your body is working! It's just working a little bit at a time and giving you some good time to rest. Take advantage of it! Some women labor at night and then slow down during the day. It'll take off eventually. Hang in there!

I hate this, as this is what happened with ds 2 years ago, and I'm going through it again. however the good thing is that by the time I went into active labor I was already 4 cm---and there was not a thing painful about getting to that 4cm!! It just happened slowly but once I went into active labor, I dilated pretty quickly for a first-timer. It's so hard b/c you get your hopes up and then everything stops. Just try to keep really busy...it *will* happen. I finally went into labor in the early morning after having a glass of wine the night before...wonder if it just relaxed me enough to let it all go!
