HELP!!! White spot on nipple? x-post in BF

I'm posting this is both BF and BF challenges because more people are in BF.

I have a small bright white spot on my nipple--looks like dried hind milk, but it won't come off....could it be thrush coming back??? I've been pretty pain-free for the last couple of weeks since a long battle with thrush. I started to get a little pain on that side, but I'm still taking diflucan and using APNO...I got a little lax about taking all my pills (GSE, immune boosters, probiotics) but haven't stopped completely. I also got a little lax in my diet--didn't eat sugar, but (gasp) a calzone=white bread and dairy.

So, does it sound like thrush? Or could it be something else?

Do you have a medicine syringe (with rubber stopper)? If it's milk, you can put the syringe on your nipple and SLOWLYYYYY (verry important to be slow) pull back the plunger; it will pop off if it's milk. You have to be really careful not to pull back too fast though, or you can bruise yourself...

Sounds like a milk blister (a.k.a. "bleb"). Does it hurt?

Yes, I think it is a milk blister. I used a warm compress and a salt water soak, as per kellymom...that seemed to help. It hurt (not nearly as much as thrush though) but got better after the warm compress and another nursing session.

Yikes, that sounds like a scary operation! I will keep it in mind, in case the moist heat doesn't work.
