Anyone try 25 mg clomid?

I am trying to get a regular cycle (and conceive) after depo. My last depo shot was 3/29/06. My ARNP used progesterone so I would get a period, then the pill for a month, & now I have had 2 annovulatory cycles since then. Now I am on progesterone for a week after which I will get AF then hopefully ovulate. If I don't ovulate on my own, she said she would let me try 25 mg of clomid next cycle. I laughed at her - since I have never heard of such a low dose. She is trying to prevent multiple births- feeling that my body will 'bounce' back on its own soon. Anyone ever hear of 25 mg working?

I've only every heard of 50 or 100 mg. Maybe she's thinking it will just give your body a nudge?

It was imperative for me to prevent multiple births and my doctor was still completely comfortable with giving me 100mg right out of the gate (and I even had normal ovulation). I would speak with her again about it because I have never known anyone to take just 25mg.

I did!

I took 50mg the first cycle, to boost ovulation. It gave me terrible cramps and many follies! So I decided to ask my RE to take a step back the following cycle. The next cycle I did 25mg. Both cycles I had bad pain (though on 25, it wasn't as bad) and ovulated on CD 14 (normally CD 12).

So it did something for me both cycles, on both the 25 and 50mg. A lot of RE's and OB's as well will do just 25mg to give your body a slight kick in the pants.

ttcanother, thanks so much for answering. I guess I will take it if she offers 25 mg (I was thinking of doubling up without telling her!)

But if you only get a script for 5 pills of 25mg, you couldn't double up for a full five days, you know?

I'd try the 25mg and even on that low of dose, make sure you are monitored!

It seems like you're only 9 months out from the "end" of the last depo shot. Lots of women have ovulatory cycles return after about a year. I hope that you are one of them, whether you try the Clomid or not.

I too recommend waiting..I know it might seem like you've waited forever, but 9 months out from Depo is RIGHT on the crux of you *very likely* getting your cycles back naturally within the next 3 months.
That being said, I have taken 25 mg clomid and it worked for me, but I was not using it to Ovulate per se...I was already ovulating from some other drugs I'm on, I was using it to better TIME my ovulation.....so I'm not sure if it would work.

I know clomid is a nasty drug whose immediate and long-term side effects can be ugly, so I'd probably try it at 25...ONCE. If it doesn't help, I wouldn;t take the risk again on such a low dose...
