I know this is only temporary, but with my 7mo babe squealing, kicking, and sucking for dear life I feel awful!

I have strep throat so i don't want him to catch it in bed with me. the freezer supply is long gone and i can barely pump an ounce.

anytime i drink a full glass of water i vomit. so i have to just sip at it.

has anyone used formula for a few days & gone back to just breastmilk again?

ds normally nurses 10 times a day, right now i think i have enough for 4 or 5 feedings.

Bring baby to bed with you and nurse on demand. He is mostly likely not at risk of catching your strep. If he gets it then he was already exposed before you were aware you had it.
For yourself hopefully you have a dear partner to keep you in ice chips, popscycles, broth or anything else your heart desires. If they have to go to work ask them to prepare a cooler at your bedside with things you can sip on throughout the day.

i was sick with fever for 3 days. i kept nursing my lttle guy on demand. i'm sure i had strep or some other nasty bug. the immununes in the breast milk will help baby from getting sick from you. would not reccommend giving formula. baby will be fine. hopefully you have someone to care for baby so you can get rest between feedings. feel beeter soon:

Nurse your babe as much as you like, anything you have, he has already been exposed to, so don't worry about that. Bring your baby to bed and nurse away. Also, right now your body is making immunities for your milk to fight against whatever you have, so by nursing, your baby will get these immunities.

Like the pp suggested, just keep sipping water, ice chips, whatever, you don't need to drink a whole glass at once. Just continue sipping it as much as you can throughout the day. Feel better soon mama!!! Strep is the worst!

Update--

Let me come clean and say besides fear of contagion, I didn't want ds in bed with me was because I just felt so miserable and wanted some time and space to recuperate. The night before last (DH was at work) the baby woke up 7 times in 6 1/2 hours. Plus I was so dehydrated that when he latched on I instantly felt thirsty.

I didn't mention in the OP, because I wasn't well enough to spend a long time typing, I spent the afternoon in the ER yesterday. I received two bags of IV fluids and the minute the second bag was gone I felt sick and sweaty again. DH tried to give the baby a bottle of formula but he didn't like it, so he had it in rice cereal at lunchtime and again at bedtime. I had managed to pump a total of 5 ounces between 6pm and midnight and that was enough for DH to do the overnight shift with the babe. Meanwhile I pumped 3 oz at 4am, got some decent sleep and am feeling like myself again! Still sick, but no longer desperate.

After reading kellymom [a GREAT resource,by the way], I decided against using Fenugreek because I really don't want AF to come back any sooner than it has to (I happily didn't get it until ds1 was 15 months). I realized that pumping without visible results could stimulate production & have done that. Also, I think that ds has too much solid food in his diet--today I cut back and he had morning cereal and half a container of Gerber veggies at dinnertime. I think I am almost back to normal on the milk front. my lips are still dry dry dry, using olive oil on them now (any other tips?)

When you're dehydrated, the best thing to do is to make an oral rehydration solution (salty-sugary drink). It's easier to keep down than water and rehydrates you faster. Here are some suggestions, this site talks about children but the advice applies to you too.

You're right! But I was too sick to remember that!!! Thanks for the reminder, I don't know why DH didn't think of that either. We were so wiped out at that point.
