Serging vs topstitched?

I know the difference between them, as in the appearance, but is there any benefit of one over the other? I'm thinking of sewing my own diapers, perhaps starting with something like diaperkit, but I was curious as to which stitch is better? I'm pretty klutzy at sewing, so please be gentle and hold my hand :

Turned & topstitched is easier. Serged is faster. Some babies/toddlers have trouble with the serged edge on diapers, some don't.

I'm guessing that topstitching, you sew the fabric wrong side out and then turn it around when you're done?

that's usually what you have to do unless you have a fabric that won't fray. Unless you have a serger or are willing to spend the dough you will probably be stuck with the other way. Thats what I do though and it works fine. I mean, its just a diaper it really doesn't need to look pretty.

Turned & topstitched diapers can look really nice once you get your design right. Check out Patchwork Pixie. Serged diapers just have a different look: dehart designs.

I'm partial to knits for making fitteds. IMO - the stretch makes for a better fit.

Ooh, those PP diapers are gorgeous! It's so inspiring to see how lovely T&T diapers can be and gives me something to work towards (my attempts have been a little less, shall we say, polished ).

Those really were beautiful diapers. I wonder where one could find wool jersey. I think that is what she said she used.

She uses wool jersey for her covers, and a variety of knits and wovens for her pretty outer layer.

Just lovely diapers!
