Help me stay hydrated!

I've had diarrhea since Saturday and I've been vomiting as well. Everything that goes down, comes right back out one end or another. I thought this was a sign of labor, but nothing else is happening. I also have burps that taste and smell horrible. YUK!

I've been eating and drinking what I can. I've been pushing fluids and trying to eat. What are some things that my body will absorb quickly before I have a chance to expel it? I really don't want to be dehydrated in labor.

I do have some phenergan from my bad morning sickness in early pregnancy, but I don't know if it will help or not. I don't know if this is a sign labor will be starting or if I have some sort of bug. UGH.

Sounds like a bug to me. I wouldn't take the meds - better to let it run it's course. But I would say DON"T eat until you feel hunger. your gut needs to recover, and it will tell you when it's ready for food. (if you are hungry, eat gentle food, either do the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, toast) or other bland stuff - scrambled eggs are a good post-bug food for me, buttered toast, grits (if you're far enough south to find them))

As for staying hydrated, go for water, gatorade and ginger ale (they'll help keep your blood sugar up also). And ginger tea (traditional medicianals makes a ginger aid tea bag or you can make your own from fresh ginger slices steeped in hot water) is a natural stomach settler (if you can get a natural ginger ale with actual ginger in it, it can also help you settle). OJ would be too acidic, and apple juice can have laxative effects, so I'd avoid juices.

Hope you feel better soon - the thought of hunkering down to puke at this point sounds like torture (although i threw up 3 x in labor with DD - but it was okay b/c the baby was coming)

i had some bad nausea

my mw suggested i have some electrolyte drink mixed with grape juice and strangely the nausea just went away immediately. I guess it was an imbalance.
