Put your sick child in the bath tub to sleep for the night? He has a stomache bug and I would like to avoid cleaning up vomit from the rug at 3 a.m. so, i thought if i lined the tub with blankets and towels, which IMHO are much easier to clean, he would be ok. I am putting him in the tub in my bathroom, which is much larger than your average (and closer to me)...please tell me i am not crazy! Has anyone done this with their sick child? If not, any other suggestions?
TIA!

No, I wouldn't. But, then, I wouldn't want someone to do that to me, either. When my kids have had stomach bugs, I've slept w/them w/a bucket & plenty of towels and new sheets, etc handy. I also line the area w/towels (a few in a pile) so usually if he misses the bucket, I just peel up the top towel, ball it up and toss it in the hallway. I also keep wetwipes handy to clean off his face or my hands, etc.

You know, i was just thinking about what i have done in the past, and well, the one other time when he had a stomache bug, he was 2 and I slept in bed with him. Now, with him being 7...well, we cannot fit in his bed, and with DH sick as well, i really do not have anywhere else to go.

I know i too would not want to sleep in a tub, but I thought that if I made it as nice as possible, it may be ok for tonight.

I have actually done that very thing...of course it was me in the tub. It was very convenient since I didn't really get any sleep anyways. And it wasn't that uncomfortable.

I never have, but don't think it is a crazy idea. I suppose if your child is not apposed to it it would be ok. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

Well, I ended up putting him in the tub last night to sleep. Of coarse he was not sick for the rest of the night, but he was so tickled that he got to sleep in the tub. He actually wants to do it again, he said it was really comphy and fun. Thinking too much about how I would feel, as an adult, made me forget about how much fun new things can be for kids!

Ds is feeling much better this morning, but not 100%. Thanks for the well wishes everyone!!

No it never even occurred to me. If they are vomiting I just put an extra towel or blanket under them and know I will be changing their pjs and sheets in the night. Now that DS is a bit older (4.5) I can put a bucket next to him and he will use that.
