I'm sorry it was so rough and they were SO RUDE :. You are doing good! Hang in there! Do you have a La Leche League nearby? maybe you could have a LLL leader come check out your latch and such and help?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so glad your beautiful babe is in your arms now!

In case you have not heard of them and might be interested, I wanted to let you know about the Everett La Leche League meetings. They are a great place to bring breastfeeding questions, get support and information, and connect with other moms (both other new moms and moms who have been moms for a while and have lots of experience to share!) Anyway, here is a link to the website with info on the meetings in case you are interested.

http://www.lllusa.org/web/EverettAMWA.html

There are other LLL meetings around here too . . . I know there is one in Snohomish, and one in Marysville (though I think they are taking a break for a while) and there used to be an evening Everett meeting too but I am not sure if that one is still going.

Again, congratulations!

I've got a ton of pics up on MySpace and on Webshots. We'll be adding more as we go since we're photo junkies .

I've gotten Ziva basically off the bottle which is a huge relief but we're still using the nipple shield. I think I'll keep using it until my milk comes in and then work on weaning her off of that. And of course, she's got a darn pacifier... I hadn't decided if I wanted to use them or not, but I knew I didn't want to introduce one before we were established with breastfeeding. Rats. I don't know if I'll try to wean her off of that or not, but for the time being we're using it.

We had bought a sidecar type crib a month or two ago since DH was scared to have the baby in bed with us, but since we've been home she's been in between us which is nice. DH actually suggested it and now we're really enjoying it. It makes it so much easier to take care of her, especially since I'm hurting a lot and not really interested in bringing her back and forth from the bed to the crib.

Our first night home Ziva was up every 10-15 minutes. We would try nursing without the shield, with the shield and eventually give up and give her the bottle which was sad. Last night though she slept for a couple hours at a time and was able to get latched on with the shield and nursed both sides to empty which was such a relief. I think we'll be able to get the hang of this yet! I will take the advice abut the LLL though and try to get plugged in. I have a visiting nurse coming by today and I'll see if she has any she has any suggestions as well.

Now we just have to get ME to get to sleep... I wake up with every sound and move she makes. I'm thankful for it since I'm sure she'll be safe, but boy am I tired...

Beautiful Ziva! BTW I do pacis. I do not reccomend you keep using that one they gave you at the hospital. I noticed immediately that that interferred with ds's latch, because it is hard and shaped like a bottle nipple. Send dh to the store for some Nuks if you decide you want to use a paci. I've used those from birth with both kids and never had a problem.

Sorry you had to do the stint in the hospital, but you were awesome! I hate hospitals, and have yet to get to spend my post partum at home! Hacks me off royally! (1st time got an infection, 2nd time transported for pit - my goal for this one is to stay home post partum!!) But so glad you are all ok and whole and happy!

PS Your wedding pics are gorgeous too!

She's beautiful. The nursing gets easier. I had a hard time the first three weeks with my first baby, then it got easier, especially once I could nurse sidelying.

Wow, beautiful baby!

(4th degree tear -- how many stitches did you get or are you too scared to look? Take it easy and let them heal!)

I saw one picture of you and your dh and baby Ziva and the first word that came to my head was rapture. I messed around with the picture a bit, I don't know why. Made it black and white, and then added a light pink tone. Added some shading here and there. Anyways, I notice I can't attach images to posts on this forum. I don't have hosting account anywhere (that I can remember the password to). If you want to see the copy I made just pm me and I'll email it to you or something.

Fabulous pics already mamabear, and grats on a big healthy baby girl!
