"please knock before entering" - Page 2

I'll sooner accept that there are moms who are very shy than have one more mom who bottle feeds due to that shyness. If you don't need it, then you can go wherever you can find to sit (or sling). I don't like that some moms feel that breastfeeding needs to be hidden but maybe rooms like this will make it easier for them at first. I also agree with the idea of needing the sign and the enclosed space for the security of other little ones. I think it would be comforting to be able to nurse one while knowing the other isn't running off somewhere.

That is very true. I have a friend how had a runner and it's difficult to chase a toddler with a baby clamped to you boob.

Baby rooms = good - as long as they don't have the changing table in there.

I sit in the gliders or walk around BRU when my daughter wants to nurse.

I am all about NIP but with my first born I was really shy about it. I really was thankful for those seperate areas when I was learning.
I think it is good for the cause, as it gives new moms a chance to learn how to BF on the go without flashing people on accident or squirting bystanders (I have done this actually) I don't think its a "GO HIDE" message but rather a "if you need the privacy here it is"
I guess its all perspective however....

I nursed in the BRU mother's room once and it totally grossed me out to be nursing while diaper changing was going on. When I left there was a mom nursing on the couch in the front of the store. I should have done that. Or the glider thing.

My BRU has this sign too, and the room is a nursing/changing room. I remember the first time I saw that sign I was a little taken aback. I mean, what's the other person going to say? Sorry, you can't come in? I found the room to be a really gross place to nurse. The sofa was dirty and the room stank of dirty 'sposies! Yuck!

Before having a baby I thought those rooms were probably beautiful with soft lullabies playing, lots of clean gliders, beautiful art on the walls, and soft lighting. Hardly! I think I'll just nurse wherever I am!

There is a baby room at our local mall. It's a closed off room in the women's washroom with a chair, change table, toilet and sink. I used it once when ds was very young, less than a month for sure. I still had to think about getting in a good postion, getting a good latch, making sure he didn't fall asleep before getting some milk in etc.
Now that I have mastered the hands free sling nursing I would never go in there. It was kinds yucky with the toilet and stuff but at the time I was happy to have somewhere quiet where ds and I could concentrate on nursing.
I think babyrooms are good but should be clean and not have toilets in them!!!!!
