what can i use (if anything) to dye some fitteds i have? i have cotton and hemp ones that id like to dye. i mean, white and natural colors are fine if theres nothing i can do but id love to have some fun colors, even though they'll be under a cover -- you all can relate, right?

is kool aid my only non toxic option? grape juice maybe, but im having a boy, lol. ANY ideas at all????

I don't think kool-aid will work. You really need to use a dye like dylon. If you searching diaper making forum, there are some wonderful links

Kool-aide and grape juice won't work for plant fibers. You need dylon, or procion fiber reactive dyes. You can often find the right stuff at JoAnn's or Michael's, Walmart, places like that. Or you can go look at www.dharmatrading.com and read about cotton dying there.

arent those toxic though? off to read, thanks!

It is the same stuff all clothes are dyed with(maybe even organics?). It is probably toxic, I'm not sure. But Kool aid doesn't work for cotton fibers, it might stain the fabric, but it'll keep washing out too, it won't be dark at all.

do you think that after the dye sets in and gets washed its still toxic? sorry, i have no idea here so im just asking what im thinking....i dont want to put toxic chemicals on my babies butt, kwim? i guess i could just settle with the natural color

I don't think it would be any more toxic than putting any clothing on the babe that is colored. Kwim? I totally understand your caution. You should go ask in the crafting forum.
