Woven elastic or Polybraid for diapers?

I've been using the DD pattern, with the woven elastic as suggested. But I find that the elastic isn't as elasticy (I don't know how else to say it right now as I'd like. Would using polybraid give more stretchiness?

I've never made a diaper so I'm no expert but maybe try Lastin? Sewzannes website says it is the best for diapers...

I do have some Lastin but I'm waiting until I have perfected my pattern to use it since I had to buy it online. I've only made about a half dozen diapers and was hoping to be able to use some locally available elastic that was also going to gather nicely.

I just can't seem to get nice gathers - what could I be doing wrong?

I use polybraid, but I've never used the DD pattern.

Lastin doesn't like me.

I'm not really sure of what you mean by woven elastic.
I have always used cotton swimsuit elastic until now (maybe that's what you mean by woven elastic?) I just ran out tonight and wanted to finish up, so I switched to polybraid. It is so much less stretchy!! It really feels like it will either be too loose or too tight- that probably doesn't make sense, but it does in my late night mind.. I always kind of wondered if the swimsuit elastic wasn't too stretchy, actually, but it works really well.
I've never used lastin, I've heard too many bad things about it.

Oh no, is lastin hard to use? I am about to order some. Should I use the swimsuit elastic instead?

I've been too chicken to try the Lastin. I'm waiting til my sewing confidence improves because I don't want to waste it this early in the game.

I know that Lastin has two stretch points, and I think you're supposed to hold the tension when reaching the first. Anyway, that's too complicated for me right now. I have enough problems with the regular elastic (I did end up buying polybraid and will stick with that for my diapers at the moment).

wait, whats polybraid?

I use the binding/elastic stuff which I think works good. I don't knwo if it has a different name.

Sorry, sleep deprived mama here-not as smart as I used to be.

By binding, do you mean fold over elastic? I'm not sure the content of FOE because I've never used it.

Polybraid is just a flat braided elastic that polyester and rubber. You'd sew it to the inside of your diaper, or in a casing of some sort.

If you've tried FOE, how was it to sew with? Tricky or not too hard to get the hang of?

Yes, it is fold over elastic. I really like it. I think I have been sewing it on the wrong side though b/c I have had fraying issues LOL. So I am going to try the other side and see if its better. All I do is start sewing as if it is just binding and then where I want stretch a pull it as tight as I can and I have to use both hands to feed it through. Its not hard though. And I believe much cheaper than elastic + binding which is what I was doing before.
