In my adventures thrifting I often find clothes & sheets & things that need to be repurposed/refashioned into something else but i just cant pass up the fabric. This was one of those cases. Its a 55% linen / 45% cotton blend, and just feels SO great in the hands. Gorgeous colors & a pretty, springy print... love it

I forgot to take a before picture, but it was an ankle-length A-line dress XL womens. I chopped it up to make a dress for DD (but wound up being too small - about a size 4T).... here's what I came up with:

peek at the dress here!

lemme know what you thinK!

Oh yea, that material WOULD have been hard to pass up! I just read an article by a woman who uses thrift store finds a lot. She uses pieces/strips and sews them together to make a patchwork kind of fabric - then sews with it. That would be fun, too. Your dress makes me want to go thrifting!!!!!

Score!!!

I'll try to find the article this afternoon when I am cleaning!

I also watched on DIY (I think) a quilting show once where a woman saved all her scraps from sewing by colors. Then she made big swatches of yellow, blue, etc. with the scraps and made gorgeous quilts with them.

Very cute, I have some vintage Laura Ashley dresses made of beautiful lawn cotton that I hope to do the same with, great inspiration.

Adorable!

When my older DS wears holes in the knees of his longjohns or jeans I cut them down to make clothes for the little one too.

love it! what a cute dress! I do that too, look for fabric to recycle. I've made dresses for myself out of sheets from Pottery Barn... and a linen curtain and napkin dress for myself. At a thrift that sells clothes by the pound I buy linen no matter what form its in and remake it into something useable. Like a out of style large dress I made into a sweet 40's style dress for my sister. so fun to reuse!

I might "borrow" that design for a friends baby - using a gorgeous sheer curtain I got at Goodwill yesterday.... is it ok to use the design?
