Has anyone used steriod shots for PUPPPS???

So I feel like a horrible mother already and my baby isn't even born yet!!! I've been itching like crazy my OB said it is "PUPPPS" (I'm not convinced because I don't have a rash and I thought that was supposed to be accompanied by a rash)....prior to my appt. I had tried every skins cream/oil/butter/lotion imaginable (I even went the the natural health store again today!!!) none worked, the benadryl doesn't help either (plus it scares me because the baby hardly moves when I'm on it).

So now... I am worried that I could be hurting the baby by so vigerously scratching and I'm afraid to use the steriod shots (that my OB said is basically the only other form of relief to try except having the baby) because it just sounds like such strong medication...and my OB even sounded a little reluctant to give it to me.

I tried researching steriod shots for puppps and have found ZIP about it - it seams some people have used steriod creams though.

Has anyone done the shots? Or know more information about them? Am I a horrible mother if I do that? Is it worse to keep scratching (I'm afraid when I scratch on my belly it could hurt him?)

I don't know what to do! And DH thinks my solution is to "suck it up and not scratch and not take any meds" ...but I can't stop - he has even said I scratch in my sleep!

I really, really feel your pain. I got PUPPPs last time around at about 36 weeks (really hope I don't get it this time) I had it all over my belly starting down my thighs and on the underside of my arms, it was miserable. I tried all the otc stuff as well, benadry didn't touch it, and the oatmeal baths were useless as well. I eventually started a 10 day steriod pack the day before I ended up going in labor. Actually it didn't end up really going away though until a few weeks after delivery. I was not as up on natural healing methods last time. I think after the fact I read something about dandelion root being helpful. So, honestly I didn't research the steriods the degree to which I would now. I asked the pharmacist and ob a million times about the safety and was assured it was okay. So, I really cannot give much concreate help. Just some sympathy. I would scour the web for herbal remedies and see what you can get a hold of- I certainly know that it is not something you can ignore. I remember that it wasn't until I was very heavy labor that I was able to forget how much it itched.
