Another formula bag idea-- for BF moms delivering in hospital - Page 2

I took the bag, and, since I can't afford a different diaper bag, I used it. Donated the formula to a shelter and used the little black cooler bag for DS's epi-pen so it doesn't get too hot/cold. The coupons I recycled. I think I'm going to get a sticker of the breastfeeding symbol and put it on the outside of the bag. I actually like it because it's plain black instead of goofy baby patterns. I kind of laugh when I see my cute little clothies sticking out the top of the bag.

i was offered a bag "for bf'ing moms" in the hospital, and i said only if it has no samples or coupons in it. so they brought me a bag without samples and coupons - i do wonder if they just pulled the goods... but anyway, it did have this great excerpt of the Nursing Mother's Companion in it that i referred to dozens of times in the early weeks. i couldn't believe a formula company gave me a guidebook that was so pro-bfing, pro-cosleeping, etc., etc.

i've only used the diaper bag a couple times - at weddings where i wanted a black diaper bag to match my black nursing dress. and i've covered over the formula company logo with a pro-bf'ing sticker.

i would still love to see hospitals give out a genuine bf'ing bag that was unaffiliated with any formula company!

They pulled the "we can't discharge the baby without you taking the bags" crap with me. It was a check box on the discharge forums. They both had formula samples. The thing that really got me is that they knew I was pumping because DD was 6.5 weeks old by that point.

I gave one to my SIL who is adopting. I used the other one to haul my rental lactina pump until I got the ameda pump. I use the little cooler for my EBM.

Next time, I am refusing to take them.

I often go to lunch at the hospital across the street from my office. Once a storage closet was open and the boxes labled "breastfeeding support" were right at the front. My friend had a sharpie... well the boxes holding the bags got redecorated into "breast feeding sabatoge bags." TeHe.

DD1 was a homebirth so no bag for her. At the hospital where I had DD2 the lactation nurse who gave me the bag said that she always takes out all the samples when she gives the bags away. She was an EBFer herself when her kids were small and a big advocate. I'm not sure what they did with all the formula they pulled out of the bags. I suspect they give them all to FF moms but I don't know for sure. My bag did have coupons in it though, but it also had lansinoh, breastpads, sposies, LLL and breastfeeding resources pamplets, and a board book. It actually had some pretty cool stuff in it.
