Eli was born yesterday (March 23) at 6 pm! He was born at home and very quickly!
I'd been having lots of contractions all week that would stop at bedtime. Friday I was having pretty consistent contractions, but not close together or intense. I was able to walk and talk through them. I started timing them when they got a bit more intense and they were 7-8 minutes apart. I called my MW to give her the heads up about 3:30. As soon as I got off the phone with her, they *jumped* to 2-3 minutes apart and were much more intense. We called her back at 3:45 and told her to come on. I took a shower, which was incredibly difficult b/c I was in very active labor. My amazing SIL came over by 4:15, and she was my hip squeezer and main support while Clint cared for Robin and fetched for us. I tried to use the bathroom about 5:10 and realized I wanted to push! My water broke in the bathroom (in my pants - I was still fully dressed from after my shower). Clint called the MW, who was about 15-20 minutes away, to tell her I wanted to push. She arrived about 5:40. By then I was in my labor bed and fighting to wait to push until she got there. She came in to me already pushing - still with pants on
. Finally got them off, and Eli arrived by 6.
My response to his weight was, "Are you F#^&ing kidding me?" No one estimated 9 lb., much less 9lb.10 oz. I have a 2nd degree tear, stitched, but otherwise feeling good. So from the time things really kicked into active labor until delivery was only 2 1/2 hours - a big difference from my 19 hour labor with Robin!
We're so happy to have had him at home and so glad to finally meet him. My SIL was amazing, and there's no way Robin could have been there if SIL hadn't been here too. Robin was amazing - she was sweet, giving me kisses and encouragement as I labored, helping apply pressure to my back. When Eli was born, I looked up to see Clint and Robin, both with the hugest smiles of amazement at what they were seeing - definitely one of the best moments of my life, and I'm so glad she was here to witness her baby brother's birth.
She's still over the moon and very much in love with her brother, as we all are. He slept through the night - we had to wake him up to nurse!
I'll post pix soon - I'm so sad we didn't really get any labor/delivery pix - it all went so fast and it was just me, sil, clint and the toddler until the last minute, and we all had our hands very full!
