Food coloring?

I'd love to dye some dipes and some wool. However, I really dont want to defeat the whole purpose of buying organic and stick a bunch of weird chemicals on the diapers. So after getting some organic food colors I got to thinking...I wonder if these would work? Maybe not as bright at regular dye, but that's ok. I'm just wondering if they will wash out? What do you think?

I've used used food coloring to dye wool before. They're lighter in color than my preferred method (kool-aid!) but as long as you use plenty of vinegar, they work.

Oh thanks! I did get some DYlon brand dye from a fabric store that was going out of business (40% off!!) but I'll try to do some with food dye as well.
