I need advice!

I LOVE to nurse my son to sleep!! BUT I HATE the feeling after..when he's falling asleep he does this fake nurse sucking/grinding(ds has no teeth). If I take him off he wakes up SCREAMING! Then I feel bad! But the feeling makes me cringe!! Makes me want to jump out of my skin and pull out my hair!! I really hate it!!

Any advice?

well you can simply unlatch him over and over and over again until he finally stays asleep.

I'm very little help I love his sleepy sucking

I use a pacifier : so that's when I unlatch my son from me and, if it seems like he still wants to suck (a need that is esp high right now because the molars are _finally_ coming in) I slip the pacifier in his mouth. I hear pacifiers cause problems for some moms/babies, but neither of mine has had any problems (at least none that I've identified).

Did you try slipping your finger in instead? My ds is picky about when he'll take a paci, although I do slide one in when he does what you describe. For the longest time he wouldn't take the paci, but would suck on my finger instead. Dh calls it "the magic finger"

What I do is kind of hard to describe. I kind of push on the skin next to my nipple so that it gets taught. I know it sounds like it would hurt, but if he is "fake" sucking, then the suction will break without pulling hard enough to hurt you. If it hurts at all, then the suction is too strong and I try again later. I've found the best time to do it (the suction is weakest) is a couple seconds after a "flutter" suck. Am I the only one who does this?

i do that too! now that dd is older (11m) i just sort of give a few "tugs" on my breast and start moving my body like i am ready to roll over and she takes the hint that she needs to let go so she does (most of the time) and rolls onto her back.

Yes, it is nice when they get older and will unlatch on their own...or with a gentle "hint".
