I actually voted for Chris S. quite a few times last night--about 30. Obviously not enough. Wah.

I was really hoping it would be Haley or Phil who went, or the other Chris. I'd like to see Sanjaya gone, but that ain't going to happen. Oh well, I'm not quite as crushed as I was when Jennifer Hudson was voted off. I was hyperventilating when that happened.

The poor boy does not know who he is as a person, let alone a artist. DH and I were just saying if Sanj had any class, he would drop out of the competition. He is NOT at the caliber of the other contestants and is only there because of the Anti AI practical joke that is supposed to be going on. It’s sad because there are some really talented people who are in jeopardy of losing to a joke!

I think Sanjaya is just out of his league that's all. I don't think it's a class issue at all. Honestly, he's still just a kid. A cute, soft spoken kid with cute soft voice. Also I am not sure, but I think he might be sort of contractually obligated to stay until he's outed. Anyway, I do think he should head home soon, based on voice/performance but this is probably the biggest craziest thing that's ever happened to him. I bet he's homesick too.

Regarding tonight- Ack!!! I really liked Chris Sligh! I am consoled by the fact that I know he has a band already, and that I hear rumor they are doing something soon.

Haley should have gone tonight IMO.

*sigh* i still don't get blake. i know you ladies love him and i'm trying to understand, but there was nothing spectacular about the way he sang that song. i love the cure and i love 311's cover of "love song", but blake didn't even come close to doing it justice.

That's OK, I understand - it's sort of like a Bizarro version of my love for Rob and Amber - I stay out the Amazing Race thread because no one else likes them. Their getting eliminated *wrecked* that show for me. As DH said, "NOW you know how I felt when the Patriots got eliminated from the playoffs!!" It's weird when you don't get *why* everyone loves one contestant or why they loathe them when YOU love them!!:




I actually think the Sanjaya internet/Howard Stern movement is pretty funny. I think AI is ripe to be messed with and c'mon, how many times has the *second* best person won because of weird voting issues? They're all on the tour now (top ten) and I don't think Sanjaya significantly messes up the ones who have real talent. They're all getting a showcase and if they're marketable, they'll get a record deal regardless of whether they win or even make it to the final. (paging Chris Daughtry...your number one video is playing....) I think the producers manipulate the hell out of the show anyways. Showing that crying girl during almost HALF of his performance?? C'mon....

Oh my goodness, me too! I was so mad I stopped watching AR. But then again I am still mad about the plane getting called back to let Uchenna and Joyce on last season they were on, thus ruining R&A's would-be runaway victory. I tend to hold TV grudges.

Sanjaya is driving me batty, but I do find myself wondering what he will do to top that Flock of Seagulls hairdo!

I love Tony Bennett. Overall, a pretty good night.

Blake (Mack the knife) – All kinds of bland. I don’t care what the judges think.

Phil (Night and day) – I miss the hat from last week. Singing was good. I thought the judges were harsh.

Melinda (I’ve got rhythm) – Fantastic, but please don’t ever wear that dress again.

Chris (Don’t get around much anymore) – He was pretty good, but his voice has a whiny quality that’s like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

Jordin (On a clear day) – Just wow. She gets better every week.

Gina (Smile) – She was really great. Loved her funky hairdo. Simon, shut up.

Sanjaya (Cheek to cheek) – My eyes! The suit, the hair. Yikes. Singing was a tad above awful, but he’s here to stay. Even Tony Bennett likes him.

Haley (Ain’t misbehavin’) – The beginning was great, but when she went all up-tempo and started strutting around, she lost me.

Lakisha (Stormy weather) – Amazing. Her hair looks great with red highlights.

Ok had to jump on this thread. So was it me or did Haley get the snarkiest smack down ever last night? LOL My husband and I both winced. That was pretty mean, really. The judges really, really want her off the show. (or they're playing the crowd for sympathy votes cause she'd be really marketable)

I'm starting to like Sanjaya. Oh, not because he can sing, which he would do fine in say....Disney Movies. But I like him because he's a hoot! He's got some nerves, that one. LOL

Otherwise Blake is my favorite because he's different....but he was fairly boring last night. We need more beat-boxing! Oh and Gina is my other favorite. I love her look and she's got a wonderful voice.

I actually liked Haley last night. OK, I was put off by the coquettish delivery of some of the lines, but I thought she sounded better than she did in the beginning. I really didn't like the quality of her voice the first 2 or 3 times I heard her sing.

Sanjaya was worse last night than he had been the previous 2 weeks. He started off out of tune, and then just had no power, like usual, but worse than lately.

Lakisha didn't thrill me all that much, for some reason, but she is good and I would have voted for her had I ben voting.

I don't get the Chris R. love, I'm not a fan. I don't dislike him, but I just don't care for his voice. At one point someone said he sounded nasally when he did something, and I was yelling at the tv that that is his voice--he is always nasally. I liked him in that one song that was fast and had a lot of words Yeah, I forgot the artist.

I should have voted for Blake since he was singing in that awful first spot, but I didn't vote at all in protest. Or maybe just out of laziness.

I was entranced by her outfit and didn't notice her face. That was just such a weird get-up she was wearing that I couldn't focus on anything else. I mean this sequiny shorts thing where the shorts were so short she might as well have been wearing a body suit, but then she had the black pantyhose on ending in the huge white heels. It just wasn't flattering to her, and I kept thinking it would look better if it had been a miniskirt.

I haven't posted on this thread before, but I feel a need to beg all American Idol watchers everywhere, for the love of all that is good and holy, PLEASE, get Sanjaya off of that show! For the past couple of weeks, I have just been embarassed for him. Now, I am annoyed that he is taking up space that could be used for someone with talent. I say Sanjaya this week, and Haley next. (Oh, and Simon rocks!)

The comments to Haley from the judges were painful! Did you see her face after Simon said his only comment was that she had nice legs? Oooh. And then poor Ryan trying to get things moving along out of the awkwardness... tension big time.

I liked Gina's performance and hair.

Loved Melinda, her hair was wayyy better, and her dress still needed to be a v-neck!

Loved Phil's voice, but he should have done it faster I think. He also should have worn a hat.

Didn't care for Sanjaya, but the judges are clearly onto the fact that if they dis him he gets more votes. Randy said "I can't comment on the voice anymore..." And Simon said "Let's try another approach...fantastic" or something like that.

Loved Lakeisha and Jordin. I enjoyed Blake but wish he'd done the song Chris R picked.

Yeah, they were pretty mean, almost (but not quite ) bordering on unfunny. She really is bad, though. Not Sanjaya bad, but she doesn't deserve to still be there. I'm hoping she goes tonight. We all know Sanjaya's not getting voted off.
