WHERE did Dobson say extended nursing will turn your son gay?

He's one of those Christian "spare the rod spoil the child" types. The only book I remember the title of that he wrote is, "Dare to discipline." Hmmm, if what he said was true, then all male children in the Bible would be gay.....

He has a book about raising boys....can't remember the name though. I'll bet its in there somewhere. Although I must say, he's very PC with his words. You probably wont find a direct admonition to stop nursing hence your son turns gay, but rather the underlying message of the book is that too much dependancy on mama will cause it...You may also want to go ask at GentleChristianMothers.com. Alot of us have come out of those type of church docterines, and may know where to find that info.
But if you want what I'd say, I'd ask her how all of civilization has continued until now if so many mothers were making their sons gay? In most of the rest of the world, extended nursing is normal, and it has been since the beginning of time. If God wanted a baby to wean at a year or at a specific time, he would not have designed our bodies to continue making milk as long as they do. Our bodies work on a supply and demand system, so obviously God made them that way for a purpose. HTH

Thre are alot of people out there that worry that women will influence their sons development. It is sad. I heard a man on the radio ranting about soccer yesterday, saying American boys should play football, and soccer was coming about cause over protective moms are babying their boys and not wanting them to get hurt. (I personally think if moms can influence the destruction of football it would be a good thing!)

apparently this guy has never seen grown men play soccer!!!
I did see an interview with Dobson after the whole Ted Haggert thing blew up. He was claiming homosexuality is caused by absent father's and a boys strong identification with the mother.: Granted, this is what the "medical" community used to believe, but this guy is hanging on to outdated ideas and ignoring new evidence to support his own religious agenda. I knew there was a reason I ran screaming away from the S. Baptist church i grew up in!

Kind of OT but I pick up parenting books all the time at 2nd hand stores. Last year I was getting rid of a bunch and was posting them here on MDC for a book swap. I typped the name of the book and then went to type the author and ..... It was Dobson. I think it was his wife. But I tore up the book and tossed it.
