Breastfeeding Mom and Seasonal Allergies (x-post Allergies)

Hi all,

I need help. I am currently EBFing my 3 month old DS. I have SUCH BAD seasonal allergies. With the weather turning here, we have been outside the past few days and I am paying for it! I USE to take Zyrtec before I found out I was PG last year. I would like to avoid any prescription meds if at all possible. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've read a couple places that high doses of B vitamins can help some people. I don't know if that is what helped, but, for other reasons, I was taking relatively high doses of B vits this winter, during the Central Texas cedar pollen season--it's a nasty time of year around here, about a quarter of the people in the stores from Christmas to Valentine's Day look like they've just lost their best friend--puffy, watery eyes... anyway, the cedar affects me badly too. But not this year--even though I'd gone to the doc to get prescriptions beforehand, I didn't need to take them. I think you need to play with the dose, but I was taking 2 or 3 B-50's per day. It goes through to your milk (and turns it yellow for a few hours), but I was okay with that. I don't know any online sources, but there may be sites with real information. Good luck.
