Itchiness or PUPPS

Anyone is experiencing this?
It's when your body is very itchy and there are lots if red spots all over including belly.
If so, can you share any tips how to cure this - the natural way!
Even MW doesn't know much about it and natural treatment.

My OB says the only cure is having the baby. It's basically an allergic/immune reaction to the placenta.

You could talk to your midwife about safe ways to control allergic reactions, but it's rather hard when you're reacting to a part of your own body.

This is what I've been told too. I just keep reminding myself that it will be replaced by a sweet little baby soon.

Maybe someone knows more about allergic reaction?
Cause my dermatologist didn't mention this...
It's not my #1 and I've been told it's not related to food, more to your mood (like stress or depression).
There is also a "Granpa's pine tar soap" you can shower with - very helpful.
But they put me on cream - chemical stuff with steroids that I'd like to replace with smth more natural.

I posted this on another thread, but I had a bad case of PUPPS. Taking 3 dandelion root capsules 3 times a day really helped.

have a baby.... Oh, and after the fact I did read about dandelion root being helpful as annettemarie suggessted, but I never got a chance to try it myself. The only relief I did find was being in the water.

Thanks for the tip!
Now where can I buy it?
Health store?
And where in the forum can I find more info?
Thanks in advance!

i found that a semi-weston a. price diet (no refined sugar, no refined flour; lots of cultured, pasture-raised dairy, organic veggies, soaked/sprouted grains and organic meat) did wonders for my itchiness. also, i think that cod liver oil should help, too, if you're willing.

as for the definition, i think that any itching during pregnancy is pupps, and that there are all different kinds. i've had some that seemed like excema; others that didn't.

good luck!

I found just dandilion root tea (I guess that would be almost the same as the tablets?) in an organic/health food store - just a little one near my school, so I am guessing you can find it in most of that type of store.

I was concerned about whether I really have puppp or if I had icp, so I have also been watching my diet - I think that has helped some...I still feel pretty itchy and have a lot of little scabs from where I have scratched myself raw, but at least now I can refrain from clawing myself constently.

Oh, and if it is really bad at night I take a half dose of bynidril to help me sleep (and it is "suposed" to relieve itching) and during the day I take a hlaf dose of tylonal (I could probably take full doses - I just don't like taking meds)

My DR offered steriod shots, but it seemed a little risky - like it might hurt the baby's immune system - so I decided against it.

My DR also said it will go away shortly after the baby comes!

I haven't had *insane* itching, just bouts every now and then. But I take benedryl often for my other, consistent allergies. And I have a plenty! It works well, and helps me sleep usually...

Thank you all mamas!
When I asked doc "maybe I should change my diet" he said "no".
But now I believe I should.
I think doc's themselves cannot suggest you something very helpful...
I will try to whatch what I'm eating - will see!

ME ME ME!
I had a sudden onset of insane itching and hives yesterday (like at 2am, then progressively worse all day) and now my hands are super swollen, and my feet. THe MW isn't convinced that it is just Puppps but can't pin it on anything else either. She also recommended dandelion root tea and flax seed oil (or ground seeds) as well as a B-complex vitamin. I started taking the dandelion root this morning, I'll let you know if it does any good. It is supposed to support the liver.
She said Benedryl might hep the itching, but really it isn't that bad except on my hands and feet and it makes me tired and dizzy so I'm not liking that much. Tylenol helps with the swelling, a bit.
