We have a couple of games from

http://www.familypastimes.com/

We have Round Up and Caves & Claws. My oldest is 7, he really likes them. They're cooperative games; one of the things I like about them is that since you're not trying to win against someone else, you can easily play a solitaire version.

We were given Cranium Balloon Lagoon for Christmas, and just played it today. The kids enjoyed it a lot. They also like making up board games -- I saw a board game making kit at, hmmmm, it was Chapters. http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/toys/i...Your-Own-Games They usually just use game boards and pieces from the dollar store and make up games with that, but the kit looks fun.

The kid versions on Yahtzee are fun, too, or just regular Yahtzee... not so much a board game, though.

Here are my answers:
The card game "Sleeping Queens". My kids (7 and 4) played that game everyday for 3 months straight. All our friends that we recommended it to also loved it.

Another awesome card game is "Loot"-- based on pirate ships (excellent).

I just asked my son (just about 8):
Risk
Chess
Battleship
Stratego
Monopoly
Mancala

6 yo DD enjoys most of the games mentioned by the previous posters as well as Rumikub. She's a huge Rumikub fan.

Blokus - fun for kids and adults to play, and if the adults are at all spatially challenged the kids can have fun stomping the grown-ups.
