If only I had said. . .

My SIL just circed her newborn. I gave her some print outs about circ, I talked to her about it and she agreed that it was horrible. She said she felt terrible for doing it to her older son. She did say she was worried about having them look different, but I didn't say anything.

If only I had told her that "two wrongs don't make a right." I feel like I just didn't say the right thing. I saw the baby the day after he was born. Maybe if I had just gotten there a few hours earlier. :

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot force it to drink. She agreed that it was horrible, yet did it anyway. Somehow I doubt that you would have been able to stop her since it seems she had made up her mind.

I agree.

Also, I wish people would not circ so soon. At least wait until they're a few weeks old.

Yeah, I fear this may have happened to someone I know. I had written her an email about a week before she had her son giving her all kinds of circ info "just in case she wasn't aware of the issues, etc". In her email reply, she wrote "Thanks for your email. Yes, I am very concerned about having this done."

I still fear she had him circed though. I had originally planned to go see her in the hospital but my daughter was very ill and I didn't feel it was right to go and possibly expose the baby. We chatted on the phone. She didn't say anything one way or the other. I just have a feeling that they had it done.

I guess it's possible I will never know... I want to visit them and the baby this weekend, but I am really dreading finding out they did it. :
