We are planning on using sposies at the hospital ... I figure I won't really feel like toting home dirty diapers and instructing DH on how to wash them properly, right off the bat.

at the hos we used the 'sposies from the hos (no need to pay for some when they will give us some for free) as soon as the first diaper change came around once we got home we switched to cloth.

We'll use sposies in the hospital and change to CDs when we get home. I'm probably having a repeat c-section, so we'll be in three days or so. We did the same thing with my son, sposies until home, then CDs. I'm not planning to buy NB sposies for home use. My DH and I will both be home, so I'm not worrying about dipe laundry right after we get home, he can do it, he's a pro!

I'm sure that the hospital sticks the "cost" of the disposables somewhere into the cost of your stay. Deep down, unnamed, probably called "generic supplies". I highly doubt that they are really free. I also doubt that not using them would get you a credit (however small) on your bill.

Nothing is free at the hospital!!! In fact, a coworker asked for an itemized bill from the hospital and everyhting was on there, even things she didn't use - like the toiletries in the shower. Each sanitary pad was close to $10. :
