I read this the other day, and I think its probably the best argument against circ I have ever read. Thought you would all appriciate it.

I loved that. Strong, emotional, powerful. My heart is full of compassion. I'm inspired in my intactivism. Whenever I get down or discouraged, I'll turn to this essay.

That was great and also very sad. I am going to have a soon to be mom to a boy read this. I hope maybe this will open her eyes and make her decide not circ. I've already given her so much info to read , had her watch the graphic video ect and she still isn't convinced but maybe this will get through.

Interesting perspective, hearing from a male who was circumcised. I like some of his arguments, especially the part about how hypocritical our society in regards to male vs female circumcision. He's so hostile though that I think it distracts from his argument sometimes.

I don't think it distracts. I think it underlines the point that a circumcised man about to have a son might say that HE'S happy w/ his circumcised status, but not EVERYONE will feel that way, and that even if ONE (1) person is unhappy, ONE (1) voice counts and (((deserves))) to be heard!

If an intact man is unhappy with his status, he can remove it. MGM is permanent (foreskin restoration will never make the penis whole again) and (((can't))) be reversed!

I think if I'd been circumcised I would be so extremely angry and so so sad. Hostile wouldn't even begin to describe how I would most likely come across.

I think I would feel that way, too, Sheacoby! Thank goodness I'm intact, but I'd still like to think I would STILL be a passionate intactivist if I were circumcised/mutilated. In fact, I would feel the same, but differently (IYKWIM)!

DH is often angry when we talk that he was circ'd. It is crazy when you think about it.

I'm sorry for him. I'm sorry for my brothers. I'm sorry for everyone. I'm thankful that dd was born a dd not a ds (we didn't find out til birth!) because she would have been circ'd.

That's what we DO, you know.

Thanks for the link.

Wow - thanks for sharing that. What a good thing to share at more mainstream boards.

I thought he got to the heart of the matter very powerfully - his body, HIS choice. That is how it should have been.

I can not even begin to tell you how angry it makes me that I could take my 3 year old son and have part of his body cut off.

Why does ANYONE think I have the right to do that to him?

And I'm just a mother.

I can't imagine the feelings of someone who is circumcised. But I thought this man expressed those feelings incredibly well.

Timmy is actually an LJ friend of mine and I absolutely love this post. I send this and the post from wreckingboy (Mutilation Nation) to anyone expecting that I speak to.
