I feel sooo cranky today! (vent and maybe TMI)

My due date is tomorrow and today I feel sooo cranky and have zero patience, especially for my sweet dd, she's been dealing with a cough/cold for almost two weeks and today it's getting worse, she's sneezing and has a really runny nose, and she is cranky and I can't get a nap in now. Ugh.

Also, I'm still GBS+ as my midwife told me today. It almost makes me feel "dirty" in some strange way to have to deal with a bacteria that just doesn't want to go away. Two weeks ago I also had a yeast infection which is now cleared up. AND to add to that, I had a fungus infection under both armpits that with yeast cream and cortizone cream is pretty much cleared up, but as soon as I sweat a bit it looks a little red again.
I'm a really clean person, so all that is just weirding me out.

I tried garlic and silver water for the GBS (the garlic just gave me bad gas and it's hard to have gas when being, now we're gonna do the hexadine solution for when my water breaks. But it's such a worry too, I don't want to endanger my baby in any way, but I also want to stay clear of antibiotics.
But then again, maybe antibiotics would be best? I just don't know!!!

And all my friends are leaving town this or next week to go on longer vacations, so there will be nobody to help after the baby is born. My dh is under a lot of stress with work, he runs his own biz, so he can't take "time off" as other papas can. However, he really does his very best to do anything for me all the time, he's supersweet, funny and awesome.

Sorry for the vent...

Awww. I can sympathize. Although my due date isn't until April 1st so I can't complain quite as much!!

I started having light contractions yesterday at 9:30 am. They lasted allll day, alll night, and into this morning. I went and saw a chiropractor who worked on me forever and I REALLY thought I would kick the contractions into gear. No such luck. Grrr.

My dh runs his own company too so I totally hear you on that! This is the start of his busy season so he only has so much time to help out.

Hopefully this will all be a distant memory soon!!

Sorry to hear about the GBS thing. The whole thing is a pain in the bum. My dh and I decided we'd only do the antibiotics if my labor was long (with lots of cervix checks) or my water was broken for a long time.

2nd time moms generally labor an average of 7 hours, so there's usually not time to get in 2 doses of antibiotics anyway.

Hope you get some rest soon! I know I'm practically catatonic around 4 p.m. every day.

Happy due date! Mine is Saturday.

With the yeast problems you've been having, I'd stay well clear of antibiotics! You really REALLY want to minimize your risk of getting a yeast infection in your breasts. Trust me, it is NOT pleasant.

The risk to your baby is really very low, if I remember correctly...

How would the yeast move to the breasts? Is it internally or externally?
I've heard of the yeast/breast thing before and it sounded pretty bad. Any way to prevent it before it happens? I cleared up the vaginal yeast, but doesn't it also live in the body beyond the vagina?

I guess I'll keep taking the garlic pills...

I am worried about the GBS though, even though the transmission rates are pretty low, especially in full-term babies.

Also, I feel better after my dd let me rest on the couch for a good half hour while she played VERY quietly, just whipered to her toys and animals, it was really cute. And then dh stopped by to blow up the La Bassine we bought with a new electric pump he just got (the other cheaper tub got ripped by racoons). He also bought a nice heat lamp for the changing table and took care of a few more things at the house, which made me feel really good and "taken care of".

If you have a yeast infection during delivery, it can be transferred to your baby as thrush (in the mouth), and then when you breastfeed your nipples get infected.

My dd had thrush when she was born. It was miserable.

Glad to hear you got some down time! Yay!

Oh my, I am sorry you are dealing with this. I agree that it would be good if you could avoid abx. Watch for signs during your labor like fever... and of course watch baby too.

Glad you got a new tub! crazy racoons.

My MW said something about grapefruitseed extract two days ago, I have to go buy some I guess. I almost feel it's too late, I'm kinda discouraged that after two weeks of garlic and silver water treatments there was no change in the count, it's still considered a "moderate" GBS culture.
