What exactly does EPO do?

I went out and bought some evening primrose oil and I was told to put it up the tunnel, but I'm wondering if it's okay to do that with no signs of labor. I've been told it will help labor along, but will it jump start it if the baby's not ready?

TIA

It doesn't actually start labor, it just helps to ripen your cervix. It has GLA which is a precurser to prostaglandins.

I don't think it ever did anything for me in that area. I even had a mw once take a bunch of capsules, open them to get the oil out and massage it directly on my cervix (I was 42 weeks) and it didn't do a thing. In fact the stress made me reverse in dialation.

I do take it orally to help my hair and skin and do notice a big difference in my hair when I take it.

I took it orally, just one capsule daily for a week before labor. I noticed a definite change (softening) of my cervix after just a couple of days. Everyone is different though. I have never taken it vaginally.
