We are all in a rut. I had ben pretty sick with the current babe, so I didn't even look for ideas of things to do for over 3-4 weeks but now that I am better I need some ideas as I am feeling very un creative.

PLease share!!!! Inspire me!

The boys birthday party is tomorrow so I have spent much of the week getting ready for that. But we do FIAR so we are staying pretty well on task with that. DS1 likes to row two books at a time so we are doing some China and France related things (The Story of Ping and Madeline). We were supposed to cook Chinese food this week but we cheated and ordered it instead. Today the boys will be building the Eiffel tower out of blocks and we will work on the science experiment on steam (Mike Mulligan) we didn't get to last week. We are doing a science themed birthday and the cupcakes will be decorated as the periodic table so as we are baking them together we will discuss what that is. They are still young (6 and 8) so I won't go into detail but a quick overview! Friday's are usually our fieldtrip day but I have so much to do for tomorrow that we are skipping the science center.

I would love to ge to the science center, I think the girls will love it! I am thinking of heading to the zoo next week and getting a membership.

I miss our local childrens museum. It had to close due to funding....

I think we will tackle some science stuff next week. we have a cool magnet kit that we haven't touched yet.

Right now I'm thinking about this weekend. Today DD has a dentist appointment and cheer practice. Tomorrow she is tagging for cheer and we have a big parent meeting. I can't wait for that We also have to make a trip to the pet store, which is always interesting with my kids , as well as getting DH some new steel toes for work.

I plan on installing our Rosetta Stone this weekend so DD and I will probably mess around with that some.

I printed off a bunch of activities from the New England Pirate Museum website to see if the kids feel like doing any of them to go with the reading we've been doing about Pirates. DD and I visited the museum last fall which is what sparked the interest. There are things like make a pirate flag, divide the booty and write a ships log. They sound like lots of fun!

I also plan on getting going on our Tomatosphere project. We got our seeds last week and need to get going! I imagine this will get them planting other things as well.

We have our homeschool groups last session of the World Geography fair this Thursday. It is going to be an international dinner. We did Scotland and will be bringing some Scottish cheese, some shortbread and some oatcakes along with a thermos of tea.

I need to make a trip to library as well. We have overdue books and DD wants to get some physics books so she can work on her science project (physics in cheerleading). DS wants more pirate books

The puppy has a vet appointment too. Those are always...er...interesting : My kids ask LOTS of questions!

Boy, we have more planned then I thought!

Other than the usual reading they do, I think next week Hannah (12) will be planning and serving a Japanese meal for our family dinner, which will involve lots of math and kitchen skills

And we're going to try to get to the local natural history museum next Friday for a slight change of pace. This warm-to-freezing-to-wet-to-sunny-to-windy weather is killing a lot of our outdoor time :

Dd is at her best friend's house for a sleep over. (Public schools are on spring break here right now.) So she was happy about that. She put a hat on to conceal her new haircut so she could suprise her friend.

Ds is playing his online game and loving it as well as reading a new book he picked up at the library. Dh is gone overnight for work so it will be just Ds and me.

Monday: a homelearners dropin play centre for the afternoon
Tuesday: our free day; I did housework in the morning and we spent the afternoon at the playground with friends
Wednesday: DS had gym class in the morning, then we went to a local hobby farm with a group of mamas and kids.
Thursday: another homelearners dropin group in the morning, playground in the afternoon (do you sense a theme? it's been raining here for a month straight and we finally got some sunshine, lol)
Friday: DS had speech therapy in the morning, DD had gym class in the afternoon.

Ok, dont hate me....but after studying Egypt with SOnlights Core 1...I am taking my ds to Egypt this week to see the Pyramids!!!!!!!! We moved from Va. to Bahrain last May for a few years and what timing-I ended up homeschooling and using sonlight. We are studying all about early civilizations. We will be there for 5 days and plan to see the Pyramids, do the museum and go on a desert Safari!! I am so excited espcially becasue we are usually quite isolated here and I can get overwhelmed with homeschooling and not having much support.

LukesMum - that's so exciting! I hope you all have a great time.

Next week we are planning (who knows what will actually happen) to plant some stuff in the garden, and then maybe start some more seeds. Our Natural History Museum is having a Dinosaur Egg Hunt on Wednesday night, so we plan to go the that, and then on Thursday and Friday, they are having a Native Languages Fair that we will check out. And we have to make a HUGE batch of cookies, some to send to a friend's son's school for a "snack attack" and some to bring to the kids' grandparents when they go visit. And I think I'm having a little dinner party Tuesday evening, so we will do lots of cooking for that as well. And we will probably do lots of painting. And the usual gymnastics lessons and Gymboree classes.

We don't do to much structured stuff. We went to the science museum last week, visited cousins for an overnight stay this week, went to the playground and made a new friend complete with phone # exchange, yesterday. The mom of our new friend just took her 16 yo out of school and seems open to the idea of hsing the one my ds' age.

I'm trying to get the garden under control and I'm working on an upholstery project. Ds sometimes chooses to help out with these. He has been enjoying chess and building lego spaceships with daddy. There is a computer game that he has been working on with me, off and on, for a few days. It's incredibly slow paced but ds hasn't lost interest.
