We just got a quote to get our bathroom, DD's room and the trim/baseboards painted through our whole house. The quote was $1300.

$210 for the bathroom
$330 for Dd's room
$790 for the trim/base boards

The trim and baseboards I can see paying for. That is NEVER going to happen here. My DH works long, long hours and I can't do it with a sick dd and crazy 3 yr old DS. In fact, in our previous house, renovated it and when we listed it to sell it the baseboards STILL hadn't been painted by DH.

BUT, what if I got a mother's helper/sitter while I painted the bathroom and DD's room? I mean, I could pay her $100 for a weekend and do that myself and spend the night at my parents with the kids so they aren't exposed to the fumes. We already have the paint for the bathroom - we bought it a year ago: and I can get the paint for DD's room, commercial quality, very cheap. I'm not the best painter, but even I can do those 2 small rooms. Oh, and yes, they really are small. I just can't see laying out the money for it. The baseboards, yes, because we just had new hardwood floors put down and it will finish it off and make it gorgeous, but the rooms? no.

What do you think? I need to put that money towards landscaping and just can't see putting into the painting, which I could do myself if I got a sitter.

Def. do it yourself. Painting walls just isn't that much work and isn't worth that much $$, IMO.

Heck I'll paint the rooms for half that! LOL

I really enjoy painting, so I'd say go for it. I can't even fathom paying someone else to paint my house.

ETA: make sure that when you make your decision, you take into consideration the cost of paint, rollers, brushes, paint tray, and masking tape. Those things aren't super expensive, but the do add up.
