Applying the Concepts of "The Secret" to the Circumcision Issue

So, this may be a little unconventional and 'out there', but I know that there are often threads in other forums regarding the Law of Attraction and how affirmative thinking bring about positive change. I haven't watched the entire movie, but I have seen a good portion of it. For those who are more familiar with it, can we discuss how we could collectively start applying it to the issue of circumcision? Maybe start brainstorming some specific affirmations we can tape to our bathroom mirrors, kitchen cupboards, refridgerators, car dash, etc? Perhaps even start a daily ritual of all focusing our intent at a specific time? What do you think?

Could this help combat the HIV madness?

A quote I found one this site was, "Always remember that negative energy is created by your reaction to something. No matter how justified you may be in getting angry or upset about something, your justification means nothing to the Universe. You will create damaging negativity that directly affects you in a negative manner - no matter how justified you were for getting upset in the first place." We're all feeling SO frustrated right now, it's food for thought. Anything really is possible. There are a LOT of people in this world who oppose this practice. Intactivism is growing, despite the HIV hoopla, and it will continue to grow because genital integrity is a human right and human rights awareness, acceptance, and support isn't going to go away.

I would definitely be up to doing that. I think it is a great idea.

Now to think up some affirmations!!

How about a bumper sticker that says "Visualize Whole Penises" - sort of a take off on "Visualize World Peace" or "Visualize Whirled Peas".

OMG can you imagine how many accidents a bumper sticker like that would cause? Great idea though.

fek&fuzz: That really truly made me laugh out loud! I love it.

Jen, you always come up with the most unusual threads! I like the idea of this. I don't know much about The Secret, except what I've gathered from threads here at MDC. But positive thinking and positive energy are never a waste.

I actually thought about this issue when watching The Secret and thought about posting something. I thought about it when they mentioned how even saying you don't want fill in the blank to happen is bad b/c it still draws energy to that thing and gives it attention and attracts more of it. For instance, they said if you don't want more bills, don't say "I don't want more bills," b/c by mentioning and focusing on bills, you are attracting the very thing you don't want.

What if we tried to be more pro-foreskin and less anti-circumcision? According to The Secret, we are only attracting more circumcision since we talk about it so much. You probably have to have seen it or read it to know what I'm talking about. It makes some sense if you think about it. How often do people talk about the foreskin? If more people heard that word and learned what it really was, they might not be so afraid of it. We want to attract the foreskin, not circumcision. It's really late, and my eyelids are really heavy, so I hope I made sense. I could probably articulate my thoughts better if I weren't so sleepy. Anyway, it's totally controversial, but it did make a lot of sense to me.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Changing our language would be a great start. Focus more on using "intact."

Let's think of some positive statements for the perfect world we can envision where children are safe, protected, respected, valued, welcomed gently & peacefully, where every glorious part of a healthy newborn is oooed and aweeed over from tiny whisps of hair to little wiggly toes...and wholeness, intactness, and genital integrity are the expectation, normal, & standard.

I think that's a great idea! My mom is really into the Church of Religious Science which focuses on the positive thinking methods of Ernest Holmes, so this kind of thing is right up my alley.

"Foreskins 4 Keeps--an idea whose time has come"

Paints a picture in the mind.

I like this a lot!

Foreskins for Keeps! Though the Visual Whole Penises was so funny I kept thinking of hat one a lot and I actually did visualize it so I think I am gonna think of both.

Does anyone have any other ideas??

Where we put our focus is what the physical universe manifests. There will be "petty tyrants" (in the words of Don Quixote) who try to distract the focus
off the movement. Ignore them, avoid them, and don't give your energy to engaging in discussions that sap your energy. Have faith that where the focus is, there will the results be. Focus on education, communication, peaceful progress and a world of people with intact bodies. There is so much love and commitment in the intactivist movement. Draw your strength from people you admire, who inspire and lead us onwards.

I don't really understand what this secret thingy/the Law of Attraction is(language barrier)but really great if people can do positive thinking. Honey is always more effective than vinegar.

After 8 years of fighting this issue I have crashed and burned. I cannot even be in the same space with people who I know will slice their children. I get so filled with rage and anger.

This is so true!!! I've worked with many organisations but never have I met such a strong, caring and 100% commitment filled community than intactivists!!!
