how much do you plan to spend or have you spent on your childs easter basket? i think i have spend like 50-65 (we already had the basket and paper grass) so this year i just bought my son (who is 2) a few books, some animal toys that you can put in a pool or bath tub and it squirts water out of their mouths, and the melissa and doug animal magnets (he loves animals). and i was just going to put some chocolate bunnies in too. i think it looks "too little" but last year i felt like i filled it with junk just to fill it. what do you spend and what do you put in the basket?

My sons only 7 months and i plan on spending like 10 bucks!!!

For the toddler we spend under $10 and most of that is in books.

The 15 year old tends to get around $30 because his books/games are just more costly.

This is the first year we arent strapped $ wise.

I am tired of the candy as the girls dont really eat it and i end up throwing it out months later.

So they will get a chocolate bunny and then swim stuff.

We just bought them a pool and they have no swim items so we figured that would be great gifts.

The items will be scattered all over outside and the basket will be used for finding the eggs they colored the day before that we will also hide.

Edited to answer the question. Umm I figure it will be $10-$15 a kid, we have 3

I don't have kids, but I made a basket to send to my mom. It cost about $25. Mostly dollar store stuff.

None. DD is almost two but our first child. Will will do a family birthday and a family Easter dinner on the weekend. She received two gifts already from her grandma's.

I HATE Easter.......I end up spending so much money on junk...and then still feel pressured to buy everyone a nice outfit. I wish it would just go away.
Plastic crap and sugar. And I'm broke this year.

I tend to buy things they already need for their gifts.

For the candy it was $5 total for both kids. I got Sundrops and some organic Bug Bites.

I spent $15 - a playsilk, a book, bubbles from Gymboree, and a bag of fruit snacks.

I love Easter. It is such a non-pressure holiday for me. I love spring dresses.
I bought dd some play-dough eggs and some chalk eggs.
We are probably going to Disneyland and my mom is going to buy her a princess dress. It's going to be so much fun!

We are spending about $10 per kid, and about $8 total in candy. We have baskets and plastic eggs from last year. I got one bag of small jelly beans and one bag of egg shaped m&m's for the kids (they will just get a little bit in their plastic eggs - the rest will be dh's stash), and one bag of Robin's Eggs for me. In addition to the baskets, the kids will each get a child-sized rake and hoe ($5 each at the local hardware store). They love to "help" in the garden, and the plastic kiddy stuff is breaking left and right. So they're getting their own real tools this year. They'll also help make and decorate some easter cupcakes (with colored coconut - yummmm!)

Um, nothing.

We don't do them. I will pick up some fun candy when we're in Aldis to eat anytime, but I've been a little surprised to see Easter going the way of Christmas, and the amount of money spent on candy and toys. :

I can't imagine my parents spent more than $20 for all four of us two decades ago when we "did" Easter. And i'm pretty sure the baskets we got were pathetic in comparison to the size and content of the ones sold today.

I recently found religion and really feel baskets take away fromt he meaning of Easter (no judgement on my part for any of you who don't feel that way...JMO..no flames, please), so we won't be doing baskets this year. Instead, we are going to give the kids something of special religious significance (new bibles and/or some special jewlery). In the past we spent maybe $10-15 stuffing baskets we already had. I would never spend $50 on a basket...that's way too much for our family...but then again, we have 6 kids...lol

Maybe $10 for each child? It's always the same each year-

A couple of books (from scholastic)
sunglasses
bubbles
sidewalk chalk
outside toy of some sort (last year all the kids got licence plates for their bikes, this year we're doing frisbees)

about $15.

2 shirts
1 pair of shorts
1 pair of shoes
second hand potato head toys
some jelly beans

So, I really enjoy Easter and I have just one kid, so I tend to go overboard (you can tell I'm starting to want another, as I keep saying stupid things like "We should have another so that we have LESS money so we stop spoiling ds" ).

I'm kinda spending a lot

We already have an Easter basket. I purchased some plastic eggs to fill with candy and hide (as well as real eggs), that came to about $5 (with candy). I will probably get a bunny, so maybe $7-10 on candy.

I got ds a Sigg bottle, so that was $17 (but I wanted to get that anyway, the holiday was just an excuse).

I also got ds 2 peg puzzles off Ebay for $7.

Plus, yesterday I got him a bubble thing that has a no-spill bucket and an Easter Mr. Potato head, for another $10.

I think I NEED to be done here!

Total: $44 (but honestly, I was getting him a Sigg bottle and the peg puzzles regardless, so I suppose it would be $20 without that)

Plus, I'll be making a ham that we have leftover from Christmas, and scalloped corn, creamed spinach, and deviled eggs. Yum (not very healthy, but to me, holidays are all about the food you adore and NEVER let yourself eat! ) So as far as food goes I'm spending VERY little, since we mostly already have all the ingredients.

I don't think we're doing a basket for Ds this year; he's just one and we won't be celebrating the holiday with any family or friends.

In my family, growing up, Easter was the holiday reserved for getting new underwear. Even as a young adult my Mom would take me to get a nice bra and something new. I've always thought it was a nice tradition.

in past years I have bought some plastic eggs and a bag of chocolates to fill them with. Actually since dd doesn't need that much chocolate I have done some eggs with coins and some with candy. We also decorate real eggs.

This year I'm adding a couple more things-- some small flower pots and seeds and new crayons for dd, pajamas for both kids. They need the pjs anyway. I reuse the same baskets every year.

Really dd's favorite part of the holiday is to just keep finding and re-hiding the Easter eggs for hours and hours... which is why we use some plastic ones... the real ones end up cracked and smooshed by the end of the day!

About $5 each. I just have to buy a clay pot for each girl. I already have the rest-paints, seeds, soil, eggs. They already have so much junk I don't see the need to get more...
