I'm 40 weeks today and my girlfriend came over and we did an AWESOME belly cast! I'm so excited, as I was afraid it wouldn't happen before I popped.
So, now I can pop! Hello Baby? Did you hear me??? You can come nowwww!!!! Hellloooooo? (Echo).: :

I thought about doing mine this weekend...at 42+ weeks.

Do you have any pictures of it?

We took some pictures as we made it, but I still haven't figured out how to post pixs without having to upload them to some sort of website. I wasn't happy with the picture quality at snapfish. Any ideas?
It also still has to get painted, which will probably happen in the next few months!
But the belly cast turned out GREAT, I love it. You need to have someone do it for you though...

The only way I know how to post pictures is to upload them to a site. I use photobucket.

When you did yours, did you have to stand the entire time? That is the part that I don't know if I could tolerate.

How cool!! I hope you can find a way to post pics - I would love to see too.

Did you get a kit? How long did it take?

so here is a photo of the belly cast session

So here I'm still wearing the belly cast while it's drying.

The prep work took the longer than applying the layers, as my gorlfriend wasn't familiar with the process yet. Once she started it took a good hour. It was really fun to do!

Now it's still drying and then when I'm ready, I can paint it. that should be fun as well. My dh really likes the belly cast too.

It was expensive though... $75, but it is a lasting memory, as now I'm 40 and this will be my last pregnancy.

oh, yes, it is a kit. It's from Francine Krause and has other goodies and little surprises in it besides the materials for the cast

Thanks!
It's definitely fun to do. The book "Birthing from Within" describes a much cheaper way to do it than paying for a kit, you just buy the materials yourself at an art store. I liked having detailed instructions, it made the first time easier.
