I've heard its nice for build up and hair in general. Do you just add a few drops to your shampoo or have you made your own?

I want to use this for the kids that have unfortunately inherited dh's scalp issues.

If you have tendencies toward high blood pressure, are pregnant, or have epilepsy or seizures, do not use rosemary oil. Otherwise, yes, one or two drops in your shampoo is fine. I use Suave's tropical coconut conditioner and it already has a little bit of rosemary essential oil in it, so I don't use any more than what's in there. Rosemary oil is mostly known for hair growth and for controlling dandruff a bit.

Don't put too much rosemary oil in your products. I made the mistake of taking a shower at night and using a drop or something in my no-poo solution for that one shampoo (I can usually use a drop of something, anything at all, and it doesn't bug me) and I had THE hardest time sleeping because my heart was racing from the rosemary oil. It was terrible. That pretty much convinced me that even if something is natural, it can be pretty potent and you can't just mix stuff together without knowing anything about it.

If you want a good degreaser, try a citrus essential oil, like orange, lemon, bergamot, lime, or the like.

This makes me think it would not be safe for my kids. I want to use it for their hair.
I have tangerine EO would that work?

Yep! Citrus scents make kids happy anyway

I wouldn't put it too much on their skin before going out tho. Citrus oils are phototoxic, meaning that you may be more suseptible to burning if you go outside in the sun with it. For a drop or so in hair products, no biggie. Just don't spray them down with citrus EOs.

Would probably be heavenly for them.

I put a drop or two on my comb and comb it through my hair.

Going OT here, but:
I really heart the smell of rosemary and I've been meaning to pick up a bottle of rosemary oil, to add a few drops to scent my white vinegar spray (which I use as an all-purpose household cleaning thing- anywhere and everywhere).

Would rosemary oil be safe, used that way?

Essential oils can get into your system through nasal passages pr lungs and into your blood stream that way, so I would say the same rules apply, but of course, it's not as potent as a full drop of rosemary oil straight on skin.

Thanks for the info!

Guess I'll just have to stick to sniffing my rosemary plant.
