I waitress part time at a high-end steakhouse and I have supported our family comfortably for 3 years! It's a great job for us, very flexible. Now that we have a baby, I don't work more than 3-4 shifts a week, and DH has a (tiny income) contract labor singing job (he's in grad school) Money is tight but you can totally do it! It never interfeared with our breastfeeding either. It wasn't ideal to work 8 hour shifts once a week when she was only 4 months, but she just nursed and nursed all night, we didn't have any problems. Good luck!

I have spent maybe 2 hours a day, three days a week doing this. The money is not huge, but it pays for most of my family's groceries.

We have been working with these companies for my Mother in Law.

We have hired her a cook, and a housekeeper, and a driver. We finally found somone who could do all three. That lady didn't work out (Becasue my mother in law is extremely high maintenance)

We are now on our THIRD in home helper, she is from the Phillipines, My MIL likes her very much. The only drawback is she doesn't drive. So, now we need someone who will take her to her appointments and do her shopping for her.

You might even post in Craigslist that you are available for several weekend shifts to run errands for a homebound person. Charge at LEAST $10 an hour Plus mileage. You may even be able to bring your infant with you, if you wear him, he will not be in the way. You could fix meals in the evening, and clean up an elderly persons home. All that could be done every day in about four hours.

I have mentioned this a few times on here, but I will say it again ...........

Work in the childcare dept. of the YMCA. You know, watch the kids while the parents work out. You can keep your child with you and sit and nurse, change diaper whenever you need to. I kept my 21 month old in my ergo carrier almost the entire 8 hour shift. She never left my side (not even when I needed a bathroom break). You get a lot of adult interaction and talking with many different parents. You learn a lot there as well.

You also get a free membership for yourself for the entire gym. 20% off classes and 20% drop off fees if you choose to drop your child off and leave the building for errands etc. (although I never did that, a ton of other workers did).

They also took my kindergartener to a from school on the Y bus. My older children made a TON of friends, and my younger got time to spend with mommy by herself (they devide the infants from the older children).

If you are in the Salt Lake City area, Jet Blue Airlines has openings for reservation specialists who can work from home. All you need is a computer and high speed internet connection. Sounds like a great WAHM opportunity to me!
