in a kids sexuality book that my whole community (minus me) thinks is great....
they show an illustration of an
intact penis next to a cut penis.
(the captions read)
'uncircumcised penis' and 'circumcised penis'.
everyone in the community wishes that the book said 'intact' and 'circumcised'.
i kind of wish it just read 'penis' and 'circumcised penis'. as in, a 'penis' is the default, as opposed to 'intact or circumcised, take your pick!'
i realize this context would be limited, b/c already so many people are ignorant of genital integrity issues...but i'm thinking of making this distinction in my speech in certain examples...
what do you think?
