With people you only sort of know.....

would you mail them information (with a gift) or give it to them in person? FWIW, I write better than I speak, so mailing stuff is easier for me. But my dh said that's not "appropriate." So I thought I would ask here! This woman is due with a boy in five weeks, so time is of the essence, and I won't see her again for another week and a half. I could get something in the mail faster. Is mail ok?

I think mail is a great idea, and then follow up with the F2F visit in a couple weeks.

I actually find it easier to talk to people I don't know as well, because I'm not as emotionally invested in them, KWIM? So it's easier to be casual but get some well-placed facts in there. Like,

"Have you researched circumcision? I was shocked to learn that the AAP doesn't actually recommend it and says that there's no medical or hygienic reason for it. And I was even more shocked to find out that the foreskin is the most sensitive part of the penis! So we decided to leave the choice up to my son, and I have to say, his penis has been zero maintenance!"

I actually would talk to her first -- maybe on the phone? Because IMO people can read your friendly, helpful intent better when you're speaking, and they don't feel preached at or that you're hiding behind a piece of literature, which might be perceived as preachy. So maybe you could call her or email her and follow up with something in the mail?

I would mail the info then do a follow up when you see her. I would also try and talk to her alone, where no other (possible pro-circ) people are around. I find that when I try and talk about pro-circ lies, than actually talking to the person.
