We had our baby on the 23rd of March via not quickly decided, but not emergency c-section. It was much more emotionally draining than I had planned..which explains my delay in spreading the news with you ladies..sorry
After taking my funal height, doing an ultrasound and asking me about how "big" I thought Logan was, my doctor sat down and informed me of the risks of shoulder dystocia. He stressed that the chances of a shoulder dystocia problem coming up were extremely small, but that he wanted to let me know it does happen. He said "you can wait to go into labor naturally, we can induce, or you can schedule a c-section. I really don't want you to deliver vaginally any later than this weekend because baby is just going to get bigger, but it's up to you". It was very comforting to have him basically say "it's your choice, this is what I would do, but it's your choice".
Well, I chose c-section because I just couldn't justify the risk, no matter how small it was. The thought of it happening (shoulder dystocia) was something I knew I wouldn't be able to get over and I'd be terrified all throughout labor if I went naturally. I have no doubt that I could deliver a large baby...women do it all the time, but I just couldn't mentally sit through it. So, we checked into L & D at 10:30am on Friday and at 12:59, Logan Isaac was pulled into this world, screaming at me for making him wake up early
He was 9lbs 5.6oz (my last DS was 9lbs 13oz and I delivered him with absolutely no problem)
He's absolutely beautiful and looks exactly like his brothers. He has the latch of a barracuda (nurse's words, but I agree) so I'm a little sore, but greatful that he's feeding well.
Hope you all are hanging in there, they're sooo worth it!
