and dd and i are chaving fun cutting up old magazines. we're going to recyle whats left over. right now we're doing music mags like spin and rolling stone, mojo, ap, and revolver.

i guess technically this is decluttering because the pile of magazines will shrink but i haven't too much gotten started on my boxes

What size bags do you use? I was thinking grocery size bags, since they fill up quickly and can be out of my life fast. The few times I've used trash bags it seems like it's hanging around for a few days, waiting to be filled, and that drives me nuts :

I'm thinking that we should have one, too. We have been donating a lot, but we probably still have enough to have a yard sale. My ILs have a great spot and they let us have one there last year.
It just always seems so stressful & I'm not sure that I'm up for it. We sure could use the money, though.

It sort of depends. When I'm just going room to room going through stuff - I usually use paper sacks or grocery bags. Yesterday when I was in the basement I used trash bags (saved carrying tons of bags up the stairs!). I count them all the same though because it's just easier!

We ALWAYS get a receipt when we donate our stuff and I take it off on my taxes. That way we are getting money back, I don't have to hassle with a garage sale, and a charity is benefitting, too!

we had a pretty crappy day weather wise so the yardsale made no profit. in fact i lost 50 cents on it after the ad in the paper but a few things are out of my life, and i'm packing it all up for goodwill monday. this stuff is just the dregs that haven't sold at the past sales i've had so i'm ready to let go.

i'm in on the office challenge and making good progress there. i've thrown out 3 bags of stuff going through things waiting to be filed.

i tackled a box of olivia's school stuff first and gave myself permission to throw away all the worksheets, torn & wrinkled artwork, and anything that didn't take much effort or creativity

did some work in the kids' room sorted out sheets sets. got rid of some things that don't match and/or just aren't needed.

brought some plastic organizers from my moms ant set them up in their closet so olivia can close the closet door and keep kellen out of some of her stuff.

i have a big plastic tub full of small toys to sort. some are kurts childhood mementoes and some are just crap.

also going to go through baby clothes again.

Managed to clean off the tops of the cupboards last night at 11:30pm! And puttered around and found more junk to get rid of most of which is being donated to the local PPD support group (they have a basket of hope filled with trinkets, bath stuff, candles, etc.) or the hospital thrift store. The rest is able to be recycled.

Heeheehee, I hadn't even set a goal for April and already I have two boxes and and a basket full ready to go to St. Vinnie's. I also tossed two trash bags of crap from the guest room.

And on the flip side of some beautiful thrifting karma, I found a Zojirushi Bread Machine at Cincinnati's main St. Vincent de Paul yesterday for $10. It still had the books and everything. Made bread in it last night and it was PERFECT! I couldn't believe it. So my old Oster Bread Machine is off to St. Vinnie's for a new home.

Boy this decluttering thing feels GREAT!

the kitchen table is spotless! i consider this a major feet b/c everyone elses mail was cluttering it all up...we found papers from '98: now all the baskets are gone!

I'm off to a slow start but I got rid of ALL my magazines: 32! :

Now, if I could just get dp to lose his skateboarding mags-seriously he has every issue of Thrasher for the past 4 years!

Today is the my first day of the challenge. I am starting by giving away a bunch of cookbooks I never use. I boxed them up and put them in my trunk to take to the resale shop. I'd really like to go thru some of my dd's clothes and take them to the resale shop, too. That is my goal for today and tomorrow combined.

I'm going to be working on cooking stuff, too, Heidi. I have a bunch of Eating Well magazines that I am going to go through. I'm just going to rip out the recipes I am interested in trying (we're meat free, dairy free, gluten free, and sugar free - so the recipes are limited! ) and toss the rest.

Hmmmm some big amount....hopefully a lot in this next week while both dh and I are home and then a little each day beyond. Looking around I would really like to downsize the furniture. We are set up like we entertain all the time....we don't and I think we need to set up the house so it serves how we live better...instead of crowded areas and dead areas we don't use. Will start with general clutter everywhere before hitting the stuff already put away.
