I'm working with a wonderful (first time) mom-to-be who most definitely deserves the "older mom" label. She got pregnant using a donor egg. In this type of situation I could see it being difficult to trust one's body - but happily, she is trying for a natural birth. Also, I know she doesn't want to be induced, but I'm guessing her doctor will probably be quite skittish once her due date comes, and it might influence her, too. So anyway, with her due date fast approaching, I'm looking for positive birth stories to share with her that will help encourage her and keep her strong in these last few weeks. Does anyone have any good natural birth stories about first-time older (45+) moms and/or moms who got pregnant with donor eggs?
The other thing I'm wondering is if any of the birth professionals here might have some insight into more common things that happen to older moms during labor - like, perhaps older moms have a tendency towards longer labors, etc. I guess I'm just curious to know if there is anything that you've noticed, so that I could be aware of it.
Thanks!
