I found a great, cheap, natural way to help sore, red, noses during cold season. We are in the middle of the big annual melt which means all three of us have perpetual runny noses. Mine gets very raw and red after a few days and blowing it is torture. We have been using cotton or flannel hankies as nose wipes for years. They seem to be rougher than kleenax. Some days I really miss the Puffs extra chemical tissues.
I picked up a jersey (t-shirt knit) sheet set at a second hand store a few years ago. I was going to use it to make diapers. I just found it again in the attic while decluttering. I decided to make it into nose wipes. I did not have to hem them or anything. just cut them to the size I wanted. They are SO MUCH SOFTER than plain cotton or flannel wipes. My nose is so happy
One twin set made enough wipes for my entire family to last at least two weeks. All for $1.50 and about 10 minutes of cutting/ripping.
