Diva Cup Question

So I am trying the Diva cup for the first time this cycle. I am having leaking problems. It feels like it is in right and opened. I have a really heavy flow (TMI) the first few days, could it just be too much for it to handle?

I suspect it's not sealing well--you need to make sure that you turn it a little bit so it seals. Sometimes, tugging on it some helps set the seal.

That said, I overflow mine the first two days if I don't empty it every few hours.

Good luck!

I'm the same way as frog. The first two days are so heavy, I need to empty it every 4-6 hours. I can tell now when it's getting full by the way it feels. The only time it ever leaks now is if I try to "push it" by doing one too many errands before getting to the bathroom to change it.

And, it did take me 2-3 cycles to really get the hang of it. Good luck. I'm sure you can make it work for you.

It seems to be working better. I see what you mean about emptying it more ofter. Just one more quick question. I am a bit confused about it being open. Should it be as open as it is before you put it in. Mine seems to be a bit squished , sort of folded in halfish when inserted. Geez, TMI everywhere. Am I still doing it wrong. This thing is a bit trickier than I expected.

yes - needs to be open like it is before you put it in. what helped me was to to let go of it sooner (if that makes sense)... like not try to push it all the way in before letting it unfold itself. and when i do that i can feel it seal itself. almost feels like it's being suctioned in the rest of the way sometimes if it doesn't pop open on its own, i will squeeze the bottom to make it pop open before pushing it in the rest of the way.

it did take me a few cycles to totally get the hang of it. and i need to empty it more frequently on the heavy flow days too.

Since you're already using it, I offer you this:

A play-by-play of my first attempt with the Diva Cup.

And a follow-up post about how much I love the Diva.
